How much play in this pivot point is normal

Those green circles looked like the pivot to the pivot bolt in and out. That’s not concerning. Take the clip out and shim the clip with washers. If you mean the play is in the red then follow that rod to #2 and there should be adjustment there. That ball joint connection pops apart.

Looking for pics for kick down with Holley carb

I am looking for a picture of a 650cfm Holley Street Avenger hooked up with an early style kick down with the ball and socket like found on my 66’ 904 behind my 273 4bbl. I bought the Holley throttle level extension lever kit part number 20-7. Back story is I have the wrong ratio on my set up...

What are you using for 8 3/4 pinion seal?

I went to Napa and replace the one in my barracuda 741 case. Easy, pezzey.

    Shift improver kits

They help. Not perfect of course. I have gone to the mind set “shift improver” over “shift kit” The lower the rear gears the more impact (I believe) it makes. Syleng1

    46RH Slip Yoke Trouble

I was looking at your photos and too small to count the splines but the yoke has a double spline missing. Does the trans output have a positive that yoke lines up with? If “no” if it is correct then it should slide right on. 3/8” in is the beginning of the tail shaft bushing.

A904 inspection cover fitment with mini-starter

I have one - mini starter on my 66’ 904 and no troubles. It is for a 96 Dakota with the V8 not the 5.7 hemi. My 72’ Demon 340 and manual trans also has a shield. Same starter and no issues. I wonder if it is just that starter and the HEMI is the same, but different if you get my drift. Either...

    Convertor cleaning? Inspection?

Sell it as is. Not worth cutting it open and re welding it. Sell it cheap and let the buyer know the deal. Honesty pays.

Shift NOW! Not sooner, Not later.

Reminds me of how we used to adjust the trans cable for gm back in the 80’s.

    727 Difference inside

Also keep in mind that the motor homes also came with a different tail shaft from the cars because they had a large 11”x 3” drum brake used as the parking brake. Output shaft will need to be swapped out with a car or 2wheel drive pick up output shaft to use the car style tail shaft.

Steel lines - prebent or you bend work fine Steel braided lines are easier to move where you want them to move as long as you make them the length that reaches.

    9in help

Typically it is face of axle flange to face of axle flange. Drums only add like 1/4” to length 1/8” per drum. Pretty decent price- I have no idea what the chuck goes for. Most run disk brakes with 9” I believe.

Transmission shifts to early after rear end gear change.

Going from 2.7 to 3.23 ratio is really not that drastic but will cause a quicker shift. Much easier on the engine as the load is less. I’d verify the KD linkage is proper / adjusted correctly and if the trans shop added a shift kit that will change the transmission characteristics - almost like...

    easy tubing bending Q

If you buy the copper nickel stuff that all the rage at the parts stores, or even the steel tubing we all know and hate. I found if you load the tube with a piece of steel cable that fits right and tight, and grease the hell out of it- it will bend rather tight and not collapse. After like 2...

    A body overdrive transmission

I think I read about that and with the GM 200-4R there is very little floor rework on an abody. Plus if the engine is 0 balance, converters are way cheaper. Just don’t tell anyone. Lol! Syleng1

904/6 and 904/318 trans shift linkage?

From the column to the 904 should be the same. I’ve interchanged them before. Different years but they worked. Syleng1
  25. Syleng1

    The 904 won't upshift to 3rd gear.

If the KD is correctly set to the carb position and the fluid is clean and correct then the options are: leaking seals, slipping clutch pack, loose nut behind the wheel. (Sorry had to throw that one in there lol!) or is the shift lever adjusted properly or does it have a lot of slop and finally...

How strong is an a-body 8.25 and can you make it stronger?

I don’t care if you run a Dana 60. If you abuse it, it’s gonna break. I’ve allways run 8-3/4 rears and love them. But stuff happened because I got stupid. Syleng1

    Damaged Pressure Plate Straps

I’m baffled but I’m not sure of the make but the paint looks horrible. Like a 3rd grader painted it. I only mention this because it shows poor workmanship (since you said it was new). Honestly- I’d would had thought this was used with a quick rattle can paint job. I’d make sure the throw out...

Can you help me ID this torque converter?

I agree. That converter looks to be stock that was rebuilt at one time possibly stock. Pick your cam and then after you pick your cam let the converter company know the specs, axle ratio compression, car weight and what you want to do with it and any other questions they may ask. Syleng1
