    Clutch fan installation question

Honestly being able to remove the radiator to get the fit better and use studs is best. I personally have used bolts and flat washers and lock washers because if the locks split at the oval hole… they don’t do their job. Also, small side tip- buy all the hardware from the same manufacture...

    Radiator Help

Where in mass are you? If you are near 395 (290) area there is a great radiator shop in Plainfield CT called BGR radiator in the Plainfield industrial park. Ask for Steve. If you know where the Mass pike meets up with the 290/395 exchange… they are about 25mins south of there. Syleng1

1973 Dodge Dart Sport No Heat.

I agree with above -if that is okay then try this: If you relieve your radiator pressure at the radiator cap (engine cold) and clamp off your heater hoses remove them from the heater core ports at the firewall. You can run water from a garden hose thru one side of the core and verify the core is...

    Mancini Racing bypass bullhockey

Well- their oil filter 90 degree adapter re-gasket kits with the bolt… same thing. The bolt they sent me (I ordered 2 kits mind you at the same time) the bolt is actually 3/8” taller than the factory bolt. Also, the copper seal they include for the head of the bolt to the adapter has too small...

Flushing cooling system using dishwasher tablets

Back in the 80’s and into the early 90’s when I was a GM tech… we used powered laundry detergent typically Tide after a head gasket failure. The radiator and coolant bottle was like a brown milkshake. Drain and flush a few times after removing the thermostat. Then add a cup of Tide. Refill with...

    Clutch fan

My 72 340 4 speed car non ac has a clutch fan and factory-shroud. It was possibly bolted on at dealer or rolled down the line. Either way- I’m happy.

    Random AC question

If r12 works well then don’t disconnect. Remove ac from top side but leave connected and remove engine from the bottom side of the car. Your ac system with r134a will not be the same. R12 is crazy expensive and letting it just fly is stupid for all the wrong reasons. Plenty of articles in...

Mechanical fan + pusher fan question

I know hot days up there are coming to an end. Try dropping the t stat down a bit. Try a 160 and see if that helps. I personally like 180 but run a copper rad with factory shroud and factory clutch fan with my 340 in the Demon with no issues at all. Also, take the timing back a few degrees and...

Instructions for installation of Hayden clutch fan say .......

Wow! All these years and I’ve been guessing right. Thanks for that info. Factory is typically about 5/8” depending on the amount of beer the installer had the night before. Thank you again. Syleng1

    Clutch Fan Info

The issue with going HD or server duty is the lock up speed is so low (especially on a stock or lower HP engine) that the engine looses it ability to slip the fan for those - “drop it in 1st and rocket” moments. At that point you may as well just use a bolt on stock fan. HD were made for trucks...

Thinking of going clutch factory style radiator cooling fan..

If you get a Jeep wrangler clutch fan they have the shortest shaft that I was able to find. I put one on my 66 with the factory cast iron water pump and shroud. So many said it could not be done…. But I did. Syleng1

Is it time for a new radiator?

Take the radiator out and send it to a radiator shop and have it flushed and checked out. They will let you know right away for like $50 (or more depending on your area.) Best money spent.

    What temp for 340

In my 340-4speed with factory rad, factory clutch fan and fan shield- I run a 180 and she stays consistent cool even on the hottest days. 3.91 rear gears. So she is screaming most times. Lol!

    451 overheating, even when moving

If that engine was a race engine- 12minutes is about 11-1/2 minutes more than it was used to running. Water pump turning too slow? Radiator airflow proper? Block coolant passages filled? Timing to advanced/ engine working too hard? Rear gears too low for road use? Just spit balling.

Current 'best' aftermarket non ac heater core?

Just pick one and go with it. Like RRR asked- make sure it is in stock. I’ve used 4seasons with good luck. Who even Napa buys from and carquest. If worries pressure check first with like 2psi in a bucket of water. Having a hvac unit “restored” is silly unless you have a 100point show car...

    Air conditioner re-install what condenser

On my 66 I did a Vintage air condensing unit. Worked well but had to use custom lines in and out. Go as big as you want but if there is sheet metal behind it- it is wasted space. Size it to your opening.

    Radiator Size and Compatibility

You can plumb your power steering return line thru the auto cooler if you want. It will drop the fluid temp down to coolant temp. Just an option for the ports if you desire them being used for something.

Rusty is correct and that summit one is crap. Dual fans that cannot cool my PS fluid let alone a 360 on a hot day. Chinese

Replacement for radiator in 1966 dart gt

When I did the last 66’ formula S I tried a few aluminum units and all fit bit the rad cap did not clear the hood. So I took the factory one and had it recore with oval tubes. Way better cooling (even with ac on a hot day) and I like the factory look. Sadly it was like $700 here in CT.

Radiator recommendation 71 Dart with 440ci somewhere 460-470hp

Here is another option: Adding a good sized oil cooler also helps take away temperature from the block. Cooler oil allows the engine to operate happier as well. I am not sure of the room you have but a bolt on oil relocation kit and a secondary style oil cooler in front of rad will help. Just...

    A/C

Vintage air - Gen2 ac and heat. In order to make fit I had to install 180. They are made for Chevrolet piping to the middle of the firewall. So I spun the unit around and it worked in the 66’ I will look for pictures. This is all I’ve got for photos.

    Ebay Evaporator for 74 Duster?

Fill it full of Coca Cola and cap the ends. Let it sit like 12 hours and flush with water. Pressure test and look for leaks (1-2psi) If no leaks then your good and now clean.
