    Vin trouble

Welcome aboard- but your car is an F-body- not an abody. Although most of us can help you, A FBody website may have more info. As for decode- since 76’ was the first year for that style Aspen/ Volare I’m guessing the program or DMV (you need to clairify that) is wrong. Chances are you are good...

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

The whole reason you would not bash in your oil pan to clear the slant 6 link is because with a mid sump oil pan, oil sloshing back on hard excels has actually been the cause of oil starvation. Adding a larger hurdle for oil to return to the sump is not good. Also with the early abodies- hood...

That is the facts I’m sure UT did not see or get the memo on. Maybe he can chime in and comment. Nice detective work tool man!

    Short circuit 63 Dodge Dart

“Restored” and “verified” has a large swing of meaning dependent on who you are. As for the spark- not normal. Try pulling the fuses as suggested. Also, it is possible the voltage regulator is stuck “closed” inside the black box on the driver side of the firewall. You may have a mouse who liked...

    273 Commando - UTG

Yes- before the 340 even existed- lmao! Special top secret “skunkworks” kind of stuff. Originally developed for the Chrysler small block in the marine / tractor market. That cam shaft was even in the Apollo rocket and went to the moon and back. Hahahahahah.

    273 Commando - UTG

Mike- I thought the towing package was just an option package? I could be wrong. Back in 66’ it is to my understanding that the package was upgraded cooling, stronger rear axle and lower ratio. The fact it was called “towing” was just a selling point as chrysler if they sold the trailer hitch...

    273 Commando - UTG

Good article but he is wrong about the rear end option. Those barracudas came factory with the 7-1/4” or optional in 66 was an 8-3/4 rear. I believe it was the towing package. I know this because my 66 barracuda has one.

QA1 Gerst Suspension 1967-76 Mopar A-Body Front Suspension Kit 52343-S40 made by Eastwood ?

Welcome Dustoff248. Above is correct, your car is a 67-76 abody. Not an early Abody 64-66 (or earlier). A lot of people here to help but we have some very well educated people as well. Check out the Welcome wagon section. That should help You navigate the site easier. Syleng1

Spare tire wheel well on 1964 Plymouth Barracuda...what size 14 inch tire fits?

I believe I still have at least one 14" small bolt pattern from a 66' Formula S I stripped out about 3 years ago. Let me know if you would like it. Just pay shipping and to get the tire removed.... it's shredded.

Spare tire wheel well on 1964 Plymouth Barracuda...what size 14 inch tire fits?

I know you asked for 14” but for those with a larger tires, I use a 15” tires on my 66’ Barracuda. I found a VW tire fits on a really narrow rim and stays below the trunk floor. My tires are 24.5” diameter.

    Room for a Clutch-Fan in a '65?

Honestly I feel eekvon zippers pain. On the early set ups the slightest looseness of the fan belt and the dang thing squeals every excel. Mine had new pulleys and brand new proper sized belt. So I’m sure it’s not the 10hp. A few degrees of timing will make up for it. Overheating and squeal is...

    Room for a Clutch-Fan in a '65?

On my 66 273 and factory radiator I have a clutch fan. I turned down a fan spacer to like 5/8” thick and use a Dakota pick up truck clutch fan set up. It’s like 17” diameter and the shortest, bolt on clutch fan I could find. The fan sits 3/8”-1/2” away from the radiator and the factory shroud...

    What would you do

Honestly- stick to your plan. I’d prefer the 273 but your 225 is ready to go. When the wife wants to do burn outs then invest in that. Look up autobodyspecialts in Middlefield, CT. They have the floor pans for 63-66 early a bodies. Heck even the 67-76 will work with some massaging and a die...

64-66 Dart GT Question - cat whiskers

On my 66 Barracuda with the same doors they are the same length but sadly they need to be like 1” longer on the outer ones. Most people do not see it but those of us who do… looks like crap. I’ve yet to see the proper length set even at this years Carlisle. Not one vendor could show me a...

Did you change your Master Cylinder pushrod changing fron single to dual??

On my 66’ when I converted I used the factory pushrod (non adjustable) I had to pop apart a sheet metal clip that kept the push rod into the master piston. Sorry I don’t have photos for you. That was about 4 years ago.

2 types of Doug headers for early 64 to 66 Valiants ??

They are both the same but the coating is different. Also Doug’s are made for the factory smaller bell housing and clutch 9” I believe in the earlier a bodies. Even in my 66’ 273 with a center console 904 it is stupid tight.

    65 Signet 273 motor mounts

If you are talking about the sandwich style mounts (rubber / studs) the thinner ones are for a 67-76 small block. I found a set on rock auto for my 66 273 that were almost 3/8” higher and my headers cleared easier.

LED headlights, rear lights, front parl lights and interior for 1964 plymouth Valiant

I actually went with HELLA 7” round head light with the removable halogen bulbs like used on Volkswagens in the 70’s. Not as much draw as the factory light, but clear light and bright. H-3 or H-7 bulbs I believe. LED headlights are obnoxious as an older driver. Honestly I drive a bunch at night...

    $34,000 '63 Valiant....

Have you ever properly restored a car lately? The restoration cost more than that unless they had parts laying around. A half way decent paint job is $10k if sent out. I agree with something’s- like the radiator cap was a poor choice. But it’s simple and functional.

    $34,000 '63 Valiant....

“Acquired in mid 2022.” A lot of work for a short time period. Like said above: very clean and simple. I’m impressed. Worth the money as a fun car. If you have that kind of money sitting around. That is an affordable toy for the guy just getting into collecting and looking for a new hobby to...

    273 or 225?

IMHO: swap it. Unless you like sewing machine noises and no balls under the hood. Now with that being said - 273 is a bit costly to build power and you can only go so far with out bags of cash…. I know, I’ve got a built 273. If I had to do it again… I’d go built 318 for the money in my 66...

Have you reached out to Legndary as they make all the seat covers. They may do a one off 64 rear seat with the pattern for the barracuda. They are good like that.
