    Timing Chain Tolerance

If you are that far in and don’t replace it?!? It’s a wear item. It’s Rustyratrod.

    industrial slant 6

The main difference right off the bat is typically the camshaft is ground for a steady dedicated rpm. (What ever the machine that engine was designed for) and the distributor. Carb may be also a factor but being such a low horse power maybe not. It may or may not be drilled for power steering...

    Rockers

Looks cool but once the valve cover is on…. They disappear. Ask RRR. He will know if they are worth the money or not.

    Dutra Dual downpipes

Just asking for AI…. What is the point of 3-2-1? Wasn’t the point of 3-2 for duals? Or is that just for cylinder balance?

    Valve seal replacement

Run piston to top and use compressed air. Very easy on slant 6 to replace valve seals.

    Fuel Pump Issue?

Also, there is a chance you have the little disk about the size of a dime / nickel of a paper type plastic floating around the tank. Ever so often it is getting sucked up and shuts off the pick up tube. Those disks come from “dry gas” or other fuel additives. It’s a sealing disk to make sure the...

    /6 turbo

Ugh! I remember being a tech and having to work on those things back in the 80’s. They sucked. Especially being 6’ tall. Almost every owner who was male- had the “cool boy” look, the same jacket and same sun glasses. Sorry OP for getting off topic.

Finally back to working on my 63 dart

Hey G. W. Keep the faith. Just keep poking around eventuality what you want pops up and sometimes the best costing parts are from people you meet along the way. It is the journey not the destination with this hobby we call MoPar. Lol! Good luck! Syleng1

Blowby and compression test - 225

A few drops of oil in the cylinder and re do the compression test will indicate rings or not. If you got gas in the oil, change that quicker than I can type with two thumbs. That will do more damage than you know. Stock style fuel pumps are cheap. Replace that if you even question it one bit...

Why do I keep breaking rocker arms?

Easy way to fix rocker arm breakage in a slant six- swap out /6 for a V8. Drop slant in Ocean for boat anchor. LMAO! I’m surprised nobody has said this yet! Lol!

Why do I keep breaking rocker arms?

I agree with Above. There is not much in the way of easy failure with a slant engine. Unless of course you change the geometry with exotic stuff. I’m not sure of the cam you’re running but I’ve seen some seriously large cams in a slant with minimal modifications. Maybe the mechanic is not...

1971 slant six 225 no spark or weak spark at plugs?

All the above plus if you want try a jumper wire from the coil (+) to the battery (+) and see if you get a better spark. That voltage seems really low to me. Just remember if the car starts pull the jumper to shut off the car. Syleng1

Only oil if you are putting a double stitch in material like jeans or maybe a Carhart jacket. Lol!

    Misfiring after Carter 2bbl install

Also, don’t forget to check the base gasket as a leak there can cause the same issues. While at it- check for an intake leak as well. I realize you did not change the intake and it ran fine but it will eliminate that possibility of a head to intake leak. Maybe the other carb was so rich it was...

Why did my air filter fill up with engine oil?

Don’t over think it. Replace the air filter and drive it. See if it repeats. Also not all pcv are the same. The spring inside is different especially between manufactures. Try either a new unit or test your old one. Slants are a really dependable engine and simple to diagnose.

170 to 225 swap (advice needed)

    I gotta ask… “How did you throw a rod in a /6?” Syleng1

Gosh, that first photo is not clear but it looks like tig welding on the left side of the “magic meat.”

    Chrysler Marsh Screw Amphibian

RRR- that thing is cool. the line at the end, “nothing can stop it.” Lol! Today- environmental mentals would stop that thing in a heart beat - that thing tears up the wetlands. You and I are old enough to remember feeling proud of our military as kids. Knowing they could go anywhere needed with...

    Adjustable Timing Set

And at the end of the day, no matter how many 440 parts you throw at a /6.... it’s still a /6. Lol! :poke::poke::poke:
  29. Syleng1

    Adjustable Timing Set

Yes- as RRR asked “how far off are you?” Tooth to tooth on the crank is a big jump and finer adjustment on the cam gear tooth to tooth and then even finer at the pin. You should be able to get down to 1 degree pretty easy with over the counter stuff.
