Is this gonna be a problem?

You're correct, Rob, but the carb base passages are very small compared to the basically open plenum he's creating with that spacer.

Is this gonna be a problem?

OK, but that adapter just negated all the good things about a 2 plane intake...the 2 planes are no longer separate.
  3. T

Is this gonna be a problem?

I think you just created a single plane intake.

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

They aren't the same. Internal passages etc. have been changed from the original Carter design. They are the same as much as Demon/BG's are the same as Holleys. I'm a Carter fan (surprise, huh?), but I have to admit, Holley got it right with the 3310 750/780

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

I google-imaged "LD4B" intakes and they all had the same Chrysler part number as the subject of this thread. Some of the pics are even from FABO here.

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

Mike....I'm confused by your statement.....The LD4B IS the intake made by Edelbrock for the '67-up small port heads ie: 273/318.("D4B" is for the earlier small port heads) The LD340 was made later as the 340 didn't come around until 1968. I believe this is a bona-fide LD4B intake, but it has...

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

Wow...great deal! Anyone in the area go buy it and ship to Aaron? Wonder why the "4" is missing from the casting number?

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

If you find a D4B, grab it! The mods you have to make to make it work on your '67-up heads will be covered up if it gets installed on pre'67 heads, so you're not "hurting" the early manifold any. ...and ,yes, I'm not a fan of the StreetMaster on any engine!

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

Dont listen to the nay-sayers...Theres nothing wrong with the SP2P intake. You arent gonna turn it 8000 rpm, are you? Its a great street manifold, PERIOD!

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

Disagree with that. Don't "skip it".....I've had a few, and they are great, for a small, basically stock engine...small runners = great torque. Certainly better than the stock cast iron lump or a Streetmaster

    273 4 barrel manifold questions

Also, don't eliminate an SP2P if you find one....a very good torque manifold for the 273...

    Carter AVS?

Edelbrock AFB's use 2-step rods, and all AVS's and early Carter AFB's use 3-step rods.

    Idle way rich

No need to drill holes...Holleys have a small screw near the sec. linkage that when turned, will open up the sec's slightly to allow you to close the primary blades to allow the mixture screws to work properly.

    Carb for my 360

That's what was said way ^^^^^there...that a "stock" 273 carb won't run a 360 properly, but, you decided to jump on every one that suggested it. Also, if you reread my response, I didn't tell him to go buy a new carb....I suggested he "borrow" one to test...wouldn't cost him any $$$.

    Carb for my 360

It all depends on how the carb is jetted.... Too lean and it'll run hot
  23. T

    Carb for my 360

I would guess a stock 273 carb (~500cfm) would be a bit lean on a 360. I would try and borrow something a bit larger (600 to 750cfm) and try it. What do your plugs look like?

Help understanding carburetors - metering rods and jets

The large port on the rear of the carb is not really for power brake connection, but can be used as such. It is really for PCV hookup. Power brake vacuum should be hooked to the large port in the manifold runner(s).

    New Carb Recommendation

Using manifold vacuum, maybe your vacuum is dropping too low at idle, thus dropping out your timing

    Anyone running a two-barrel on a hot 318 or 273?

Why would you want to? The stock 2bbls were a terrible carb. A small 4 barrel and suitable intake work so much better.

Go to your auto parts store and buy a cheap, chrome air cleaner setup of proper diameter, and just use the base under your Commando/Charger lid.

    carb decision nd help

I'd go ahead and check accel pump(s)...also check vacuum advance is working and that you have enuf initial advance...vacuum leaks, float levels, weak fuel pump can all contribute to this problem.

    carb decision nd help

Like Rick says, you could be drowning it if you're running stock comp. convertor, gears , etc.....Thats probably why the factory never put DP's on stock engines.
