Car finally off to body shop!

On the day of pickup, they each got a 12 pack of their preferred beer, and the boss a bottle of wine.

Car finally off to body shop!

Car is done, just in time for new year's. Unfortunately not in time before winter hits to get the car home on a warmer dry day! A couple final photos of competition on the rear stripe.

    Dante's Mopar Parts Vinyl Top

I started looking at my photos when taking the headliner out. I think only the edges were glued. Insulation panels glued to the roof, but the headliner was not glued to the mdf board (or whatever material they are) sail panels. Although there was glue behind the sail panel boards and I don't...

Car finally off to body shop!

Wow that's just insane. I will say these guys said they are done doing old rusted cars and mine is the last. They are both semi-retired and just do this for extra money. I think one guy is 65 and the other is 70. I think they'll do easier stuff and paint jobs, but just not a major surgery like...

    Dante's Mopar Parts Vinyl Top

Uh, you might be right lol. I pulled mine last year and I can't recall but I'm sure it was. There was dried up 40+ year old residue all over the roof ceiling. I'll definitely shop around on prices for an installer to do it. Pishta is right, if can be done for $200, probably worth it.

Car finally off to body shop!

Driver side went easier than the passenger side, if I recall what they told me. But both fit really well they said. AMD pretty decent stuff. The biggest pain was the gas tank hole. It was way off from AMD. They ended up cutting my original one out and reusing it. Was a pain to line up right...

Not my space, but the body shop guy's. Fortunately he had time to focus on my car and not his bread and butter collision work.

    Dante's Mopar Parts Vinyl Top

I figured no way I'm doing my vinyl top. $700 seems very high, especially if you are supplying the top material. Are headliners really that bad? I've been back and forth. Once I took mine out (71 Scamp with bow-type headliner) I figured it couldn't be that bad??

71 Demon Vinyl Roof - question

Ah ha! Thanks for the post on this. I was told they were different but wasn't sure. Just another reason why I'm keeping my vinyl top.

Color for Radiator support & areas behind grille on 71 Scamp

Thanks all. Mine does have a sloppy undercoating or black paint on the lower radiator support, but that's about it.

Color for Radiator support & areas behind grille on 71 Scamp

And then I find this thread that probably pretty much answers "where" they get painted. I think I'll have them do the entire front inside, headlight areas and hood latch too. Just the front side of the radiator support? Core support "Blackout"

Color for Radiator support & areas behind grille on 71 Scamp

I've seen this asked many times before, but many of the old posts don't have photos anymore, and those that do are mostly for Barracudas. If you look at my avatar photo, you'll see my car is all purple. This is how it came factory. I never really noticed the color behind the grill much but then...

    Factory colors in spray can...

Thanks. I deleted my question because I saw yours above (sorry I don't know much about auto paint) but makes sense you'd need a spray can of clear to top coat the base spray can paint.

    Stupid Window Seal Question

Unrelated to his particular question, but his photo shows the drip edge which I have a question. The drip edge trim...is it any different between vinyl top cars vs non-vinyl top cars? I was told yes, because the vinyl top is also enclosed, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks.

    Rear frame rail suppliers?

better photos showing that it's just the frame rail, NOT the floor piece that's bent up. passenger side (not too bad), then driver side (bent and torn up).

Has anyone left the roofrail trim OFF? 69 Dart

You're welcome. These photos are of a 71 Scamp by the way. Here's a couple more that I found where it shows how those clips go on to hold the headliner edge. I pried it back some and took a photo while it was still together, then removed the clip in the 2nd photo. And to the original poster...

Has anyone left the roofrail trim OFF? 69 Dart

Those are all after the door seal was removed. Here's one before that step. (passenger side, the previous ones were all driver side)

Has anyone left the roofrail trim OFF? 69 Dart

I'm not positive which parts you're referring to, but if it's what I think it is that stuff was a pain to work with getting OFF....so I'm not looking forward to getting it back ON. Here's some of the photos I took to help with the reinstall, if this helps... I took this off last summer so I...

Duster Twister ladder hood graphics placement

Does anyone have dimensions they can give me on their original Twister? I just need to know where the outer stripe edge starts from the edge of the hood (dims A), and then where exactly the ladder starts (dim B) or ends (dim C) on the vee bulge in the hood. Probably easier to measure centered...

    Rear frame rail suppliers?

I'm looking just for the front section on driver side. I actually need the floor section that attaches to it as well (see photo where mine is damaged, area needed is circled). I don't have to have the leaf spring mount included, but probably a plus to have it already attached. The open end on...
