My first thought was 3800 pounds is pretty heavy. Perhaps you could go to fiberglass bumpers and get rid of the heavy steel bumper brackets. 2 things to save eliminate weight.

The car looks like it hooks and leaves really well. What kind of springs do you have on the back? Do you have frame connectors (what size), as I see no roll bars in it. I have a 65 Barracuda and am really into the 65 Valiants. Looking for a 65 Valiant wagon.
