I think it depends on your budget. Building up a 904 will work well. A stock 727 will handle that motor just fine, I'm running a used stock 727 transmission with a high stall converter and no issues. I just put a new filter and seals in it, with a cooler. I'm running about 400 HP.

Badsport, good advice I did do that. The PO had the shifter button too tight not allowing the shifter to go into the detent for 1st. I fixed that before it went into the shop. Thanks for the replies!

Running 410"s. 411 was chosen, close enough. High revving 340 with 3500 stall.

The shop said we DID have a 904 lever on it (from previous owner). The shop did replace it. I'm beginning to wonder if the bolt is stripped on the adjuster and not allowing us to tighten the rod enough. Running out of ideas.:scratch:
