1969 Dart 340 with 727 kick down linkage.

The bouchillon cables work great as well. I used their transmission kickdown cable for my 340 sixpack as the linkage was missing when I got my car. The cables come with brackets and accessories for many configurations. Products: TorqueFlite Kickdown Cable Kit - Bouchillon Performance Engineering

    Lost Kickdown

Ouch.. Since it was determined earlier not to be linkage related and this is a CRT valve body I think the questions you are asking would be best directed to Cope now. Good luck!

    Lost Kickdown

I'm using the bouchillon cable with my 727. Are you using the transmission kickdown lever that came with the kit? Try disconnecting your transmission cable and see if you can then get full throttle. If you can then the transmission cable is not adjusted properly and hanging up the throttle. You...

    A-727 Kickdown

The cables are a great option for setups that are not the stock configuration. I use the Bouchillon cable kit for my sixpack, works great. The kit has a return spring at the transmission lever. Prices have really gone up though.. https://www.bouchillonperformance.com/inc/sdetail/3578/589

Need part # for speedo cable

I went through this fiasco recently. I ordered a new speedo cable off Ebay. I went through the whole process of selecting the car model, year, make, motor, transmission to get the confirmation "this part fits your vehicle", WRONG!! When I received it two weeks later it had the 5/8" inch nut. I...

Sounds like you'll burn on the shipping costs then. Not good customer service at all.

New guy, What tranny should go behind a 360?

I think it depends on your budget. Building up a 904 will work well. A stock 727 will handle that motor just fine, I'm running a used stock 727 transmission with a high stall converter and no issues. I just put a new filter and seals in it, with a cooler. I'm running about 400 HP.

727: Park or low gear (1st) madness!

Okay, I took the console out today. It looks like that shop removed a part off the shifter. There is a spot for two screws. I remember a backing plate being there, it ran parallel to the shifter gate. Now I need to find out where it is, and what it did. F*ck.. Looking for an exploded view of...

727: Park or low gear (1st) madness!

Badsport, good advice I did do that. The PO had the shifter button too tight not allowing the shifter to go into the detent for 1st. I fixed that before it went into the shop. Thanks for the replies!

Running 410"s. 411 was chosen, close enough. High revving 340 with 3500 stall.

727: Park or low gear (1st) madness!

The shop said we DID have a 904 lever on it (from previous owner). The shop did replace it. I'm beginning to wonder if the bolt is stripped on the adjuster and not allowing us to tighten the rod enough. Running out of ideas.

727: Park or low gear (1st) madness!

On the plus side he did up the line pressure a bit, so shifts aren't mushy.

727: Park or low gear (1st) madness!

I have a slapstick installed. I recently had a shop fix all the bushings in the shifter. Both of us came up with the same issue. Either you have a good park lock, and no low gear in manual mode or get low gear, and it won't hold in park. I tried adjusting it at home but got the results above...

    Need help IDing 727's

Thanks Fishy! I thought there were some differences on the early 727's. Oh, looks like I have a good one. Found a 727 small bock trans from a 76 Dodge van. Numbers match the van year according to the chart you posted. I might still get back on the road this year.

    Need help IDing 727's

Okay issue solved! It IS a 727 for a big block. The pdf verified it along with a closer inspection. The best part is the guy that gave it to me is looking for a big block transmission! It's also Murphy's law that the other 727 transmission I have is also for a big block. Thanks for your help...

    Need help IDing 727's

Thanks a lot guys! It is definitely a 727, my problem is I took the guys word at face value that it is small block. I guess I should have checked it over better. @ Fishy, I'll know better in the morning what the real issue is. He had some problem installing it. It could be a slant six...

    Need help IDing 727's

The transmission in my car is toast, needs a rebuild. I decided to get somebody to do that during the winter. I found a used 727 that a friend said was for a small small bock. My mechanic friend was in the process of installing it, but had issues. He thinks it's for a slant 6. I have another...

    727 Converter Question

A 360 converter needs the weight on it since it's externally balanced. If you look at the face of the converter there will be four mounting brackets for the flexplate bolts. That's all there will be attached to it since the weight has been removed. Also the stall speed may be stamped into the...

    Shifter linkage adjustment?

I'm seeing conflicting views on setting the linkage. It's a 727 with a shiftkit that retains the auto shift features (unknown manufacturer). Is the linkage adjustment done in Park, or Neutral? The linkage rod adjustment is what I mean. I have a floor console. I'm waiting for new shifter...

I think my tranny is toast.

I had a similar problem. The P.O. had put a shiftkit in mine, similar to a slapstick in an Ebody. The linkage was all wrong. If using manual you could make your way from first up to drive, and push it into neutral (not good). I messed with the shifter linkage a bit, and corrected that, locks...
