Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

The vent line starts at the top of the filler tube as you've shown and exits the trunk pan near the gas tank and that end is open. I see you have a new sender, it might have an extra nipple for fuel return. Maybe the P.O. connected your vent line to the sender there? Just guessing at this point now.

Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

I'm thinking like 66Vcuda. I think it is actually a leak. I've had them from 3 different spots. 1. Gas filler tube grommet to tank. 2. fuel sender lock/o-ring. 3.Fuel sender to rubber gas line. Any of those can leak bad enough to keep you to around half a tank if sitting long enough.

    Chicago Carburetor?

Well just got an email back from them that my email had gone to spam. I had only asked in the email if a certain part was available. Anyways they did apologize. Mystery solved.

    Chicago Carburetor?

Thanks, I ordered parts last year as well. The website is up and active but I'm not ordering anything until I know what's up.

    Chicago Carburetor?

I've used these guys for sixpack parts as they had an extensive list. Calling their phone number gets a message no longer available and emails go unanswered. Anybody know if they're still in business? Yes, I'm aware that Woodruff is a sponsor and have emailed them as well. :)

    E85 Compatible Mech Fuel Pump?

Crickets, so I'll try. FWIW I have been using fuel with 10% ethanol in it. I'm using a stock Carter fuel pump that is about 10 years old with no issues. It's not a daily driver though, just sees nice Canadian weather. *EDIT* Oh, need to add, I have replaced any sections of rubber fuel line with...

    Filler neck gasket leak

You installed yours properly, but check it undercar, it probably split. With mine I cut the filler tube at about 8 inches from where it attaches to the quarter panel then again I cut to leave about 8 inches where it enters the gas tank. So I basically cut a section out. Clamped 2 1/2...

    Filler neck gasket leak

It's most likely torn already. It will need to be replaced. Been there, done that a few times already. My filler tube never lined up properly since day one owning my car. Shimming etc. didn't work so I cured it by cutting the tube and using marine hose. The hose gives some flex and seems to...

    six pack expert wanted..???

Agree with the Promax baseplate, the rear carb will be a b*tch. I purchased one for my setup, best money I ever spent. I'm not a techie, but you can try to crack front and back carb open one turn on the linkage to get rid of the stumble (worked for me with high lift cam). I haven't messed with...

    mechanical fuel pump

I'm using the Carter mechanical pump (competition) 7 PSI 120gph for a 408 stroker. Others here are using the same. The Holley mechanical pump you speak of is a tight fit on a smallblock (at least the one that was on my 340 was) and it leaked. Carter pumps here...

    fuel pump

CARTER - "A" engine 7 psi (competition) $79.95 CARM6270 Thats the one I purchased, its top left on the links. Calling Mancini might get you answers. First time I heard of timing chain issues.

    fuel pump

I had the same problem recently. The previous owner had installed a high performance Holley mechanical. It was rubbing against the lower rad hose (the hose was wrapped to protect it). I went over to Mancini and picked up the Competition Carter fuel pump which cleared nicely. 120gph...

DON'T do This to Your Car!

I've replaced the gas tank on any old car I have ever purchased. It's piece of mind for me. It's your call in the end. Just my thoughts.

DON'T do This to Your Car!

Ugh...that sucks. No real sense repairing it. You're much better off getting a new tank anyways. I'm willing to bet it's full of rust scale, & crap.

    Six pack questions.

I remember it from an old thread that was here. The seven pages that are under the red heading (U.S. Carbs), are the best info to go by. The rest of the of the article advocates too many changes to be made to the carburetors IMHO.

    Six pack questions.

Agreed. Here is a link that provides some info for both big block, & small block setups. http://www.mopar1.us/6barreltips.html

    Six pack questions.

I have an older factory sixpack setup. It runs great. It was on the motor when I purchased the car. I don't have specs for my engine, it's a 340 with a hot cam. John has pointed out idle quality might be a problem. It's tough to get at the front & rear carb idle adjustments. The Promax...

    Fuel Tank Source

You might luck out & get a replacement at one of the larger dealers. They were available new up until a few years ago.

    Fuel Tank Source

You can try Mancini racing. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/fuel-systems.html Any large restoration supplier, Year One, The Paddock, might have them too. Cost will be around $200.

    Fuel Tank Condition

I got mine in Canada. You can get them at Mancini Racing. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/abody.html I think most of the bigger Mopar suppliers (restoration) should have them. You might even luck out & get one from a dealer (old stock). They were available over the counter a couple years ago.

    Fuel Tank Condition

I recently replaced the gas tank on my car with a new one. I thought it was a good investment for piece of mind driving. They can be found new for around $200. I wouldn't mess around with an old tank, just my thought.

what carb should I use ?

I used a spacer & TQ with no issues. In fact it kept the carb cooler. Just my 2 cents.
