I was thinking about the pinion. Just keep it in R then.

    Vin trouble

Actually- the rotation doesn't change. But you may have a vent tube issue, a fill plug issue, and some interesting brake maintenance.

    Vin trouble

Aspen'Volare have pretty generous wheel wells. Might be OK just hanging out a bit. Especially if those arch flares are used. People paid extra to do both those things to cars in the 70's.

I bet that "0" is in fact a "G". N- Volare L- Low price class 29- "fast top" body style G- 318 engine 8- 1978 2- plant (Hamtramck? or Lynch Road)

A 68 Roarrunner VIN will start with- RM21 or after mid year- RM32

    Vin trouble

A Volare Roadrunner will "VIN" as a Volare, because after 1975, "Roadrunner" was an option package and not a separate car line, which was previous ly "RM" as the first VIN digits.

    Vin trouble

OK, that fits. It's a 1978 car, at at least a 1978 VIN. What are the first 7?

    Vin trouble

Also, most on-line classic Mopar VIN decoders don't work real well past 1974. Could your car be a 1978? Since the VIN only has a one digit year code, it could be assuming a sixth digit of "8" is 1968 and not 1978.

    Vin trouble

Where are you "decoding" the VIN? You can't use a 1981 and newer program.

Aspen and Volare used the same hood did they not?

They are not the same, look at the pics.

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

From my brief stint in factory production work- A second line sometimes doesn't run on second and/or third shift.

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

The VIN tells the plant- BH29D7x x= the plant 7 is St Louis I know that for sure. IIRC 1- is Hamtramck and 2 is Lynch Rd again IIRC.

1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

This is from the 66/67 Charger source guide site- M2 = This is not an "option" on the car, it stands for the car was made on assembly line #2 at the factory. There were 2 assembly lines for the 67 Chargers & Coronets and if your car was assembled on "line #2", it was coded this way. Not sure...

AC four speed car = cool. Interesting that AC is on B body tags for 67, but not A?

    Serial Number Tag Adhesive

That yellow 3M stuff held the steel emblems to the body of my Satellite pretty darn good. I believe they also make it in black.

    Serial Number Tag Adhesive

You could cut a piece of 1x stock to wedge against the jamb on the other side to clamp it while it dries. That might save you from needing to call a priest if you use rivets.

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

I'm claiming "closest to the pin" on my memory banks. They definitely changed application parameters in 67. Every V8 1966 B body I've ever owned has had a 741 case 8 3/4. The only 67 I've ever had with an 8 3/4 is my wagon, all others (318 cars) have had a 7 1/4. Now I want to see what case...

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

Actually 741 was used in 66 B body cars as well. 742 was an interim design from about 1969 to IIRC early 1970. Then the 489 came in. WAY more 742 and 489 cases made than 742.

    MOPAR Dead?

Gas Challenger (or it's replacement) is not dead. Just will be I6 powered and the performance version will be I6 turbo or twin turbo. If you really want to help FCA (yes the cars we are talking about are still under that "branding"), go buy one, even a used one. The Hornet actually appeals...

    MOPAR Dead?

So there's this new thing (or at least a relatively new term for it) called "rage bait". It's like click bait but it's specifically written to incite rage.

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

Can't you get a patch panel for that area? IIRC Goodmark and Layson's both had them at one time. ...and that copper backing "spoon" is fairly cheap at Harbor Freight and pretty well made.

Is my car a Tag Job? Barracuda Decode...

I agree that someone didn't have a title for a V8 Barracuda but had one and the VIN plate for a six cyl car. The fender tag you have matches the build of the car, right? Technically that IS "VIN tampering" which is quite illegal. Probably not gonna get called on it though unless someone in...

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

That's very strange to me. In all my time with dozens of Mopars over dozens of years, I've never had a steering box loose. ...and I drive them pretty hard and even off road sometimes.
