I would definitely like to know more information on this subject as well. I have a 69 date code 318 with stock manifolds. The car runs pretty good for being 44 years old but I am sure there are better manifolds out there.

I have thrush turbos on my cuda they sound great not to loud but doesn't sound like a prius either and have a good rumble to them especially when you open her up.

I would go with the block huggers. Long tubes are not needed and from what i have heard they are just a royal pain like you described. If you want to stick with the long tubes you will need to do some new fab on them to make them fit like they should without getting damaged at all. I hear you on...
