I have experimented with a lot of different paints. I have about 12 different brands and applications from exhaust to grill paint to cheap silver. I have found that a coat of flat VHT silver manifold paint, toped by a mist of chrome has a cool effect. Also, the satin nickel color looks good...

Before painting anything, get some masking tape, available in colors now, and play around with the ideas that have been mentioned. Also, you may be able to find black contact paper to do larger panels. I like the first aar style stripe, maybe have the 360 callout reversed in that.

Be advised that some paints will eat the plastic. If you are not using a paint designed for plastic, use VERY light coats that will dry almost on contact so the solvent will not hurt the plastic. Many light coats will look better as a result. If the color you want is not in plastic safe paints...
