That is what I was thinking!!!!! Nuts ain't it!? What is funny way back decades ago I would be at Mopar Nats and pick up a used lid for a 69 Roadrunner because I was too cheap to pay the $20 for a new one!! But back then, I could make that RR new and it was not worth any $30,000 and up!!!

What % of "kids" under 30 (40?) don't want a Toyota or Honda!? A stock 318 AND360 are simply gas sucking people transporters. Anything more requires some $$ and a roadmap (blueprint) that works.

After building many of Mpars , one day a friend of a friend told me of a 318 AT 68 Charger for sale (back in NE Mo,) The owner had done all the body/paint in his garage, but admitted it had a "fair" amount of filler. It looked great! He did the interior with some Legendary, freshen the stock...

I admit IF a guy has a real 340 car, it needs a 340 motor. But if you think about all the costs that go into restoring (building) any old car, spending an extra $1000 or so for a 340 core motor to go in most any old Mopar be it born with a 318, slant... makes sense in the long run. But...

People we are all funny! Guy gets a 360 and people say he should get a 340. Guy has a 383 car, the "people" he should have a 440. Guy has a 440 and people say he should have a hemi. BUT, the guy has a slant and all they say is get a V8!!!!! :poke: :BangHead: :rofl::steering:

I am not sure when hanged over to alternator or maybe I am thinking of my 64 Comet with the generator.

And since my latest project, a 66 Ford Fairlane came with a generator! I stepped way up and made life simplier with a Ford one wire internal VR alternator! OK, so I still run points!!!! :BangHead: :thumbsup:

Dan, it is an internal voltage regulator one wire alternator. I used one other day on my 66 Ford Fairlane. They can be had to fit all makes.

Cars/trunks down South here don' rust out, they wear out. Cars/trunks up North.. don't wear out, they rust out!!!!

If you can't hear it run, yake it part and look it over and have machine shop check it out, for my $ it is a ore. We know what a core may or may not require. Years ago when I lived in Mo.and I knew so many Mopar guys ( guys that had been in the hobby for years and wasn't trying to make a fast...
