    1963 Dodge Dart 440 727 install.

I agree I love the gasser but not everyones cup of tea ( or beer or sodapop!). I am sure IF researched here on FABO there is info on putting a 440 in a 63 Dart! I know people have put 383 in those to get the dist. away from firewall/wiper. I also know people that have cut a small hole in...

    1963 Dodge Dart 440 727 install.

'69 Cudas and Darts came factory with 440 and auto. M code was it and NOT too many made. I never heard anything about them changing the floor for such. But early A's are way smaller there than 67-9 A's/

    weight of 383 engine??

We are in the sticks and only pallets here are 40 x 48 which is way big, but the forks on the lift have to of course, get in the pallet. I will call local Fastenal and see if they have a smaller pallet. Years ago a FABO member sent me a torqueflite on a pallet but I don't recall any details...

    weight of 383 engine??

I need to ship Fastenal/ Does Fastenal actually weigh the darn thing or will they just assume this weight close enough?? I really have more to do than make a couple of trips to a scale for exact weight.

expert help needed (my first post)

Back in the late 80s I gave $1000 for a solid and almost rust free, running 318 Challenger with a 440 transplant. Did I give a little too much? Loved that car! No rust, a couple of small floorboard holes I patched, and drove it 30 miles to a shop for exhaust with no mufflers! BUT every...

Questions Regarding 383 Barracuda Engine Compartment

Don't recall but I have had dozens of 68-9 RoadRunners, Bees with 383s and all had manual steering! I had a 69 383 Bee with a 4 speed and manual steering AND AC!!! It was unmolested original. The GTX's usually had PS. Had a 69 Bee hemi car manual steer and brakes. Back when men were men...

Questions Regarding 383 Barracuda Engine Compartment

I had an original 67 383 Cuda and PO installed oversize front sway bars, it rode like on rails....... fastly!! I have no idea nor care about AC. I prefer manual steering on Mopars.

    273 to 383 Formula S Barracuda

Back in thr 90s I had a 67 Cuda #s 383 4 speed car. I had a huge front sway bar. highway gear. I drove it from Ca. to Mo. and all around when I got back home. I would not have traded it for a 340 but thats just me.

    273 to 383 Formula S Barracuda

The 273 can be a very capable engine. We all have the bigger is better sryndrone and the grass on other side of the fence is taller and greener! Funny how back in SW Ga, 1966 the fastest car in the rural 1/4 mi drags in that whole area ( and part further out too) was a 289 4 speed '65...

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

I agree. I don't always do the best work or make the smartest decisions, some will say, but I do what I can and am usually satisfied....thats what counts. I don't have to be the fastest, the biggest, the best... happy will do! Decades ago, a young guy moved to Mo. from Ia. just down the...

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

It is simply a thinker block, it has a certain cast number, I forget what. Hard to find and IF the seller knows what he has, it can bring more $$$. Not gold plated though. Building a bigger more inch 440 is probably more "in" today.

Best Kept Secret in the Big Block Mopar World

That "secret" has been out a few decades or so. I need an affordable big block for 64 Savoy build. Any. If the running 383 does not materalize, I have a bud close by, with a complete 400. That will get the nod. Only affordable 440 core I have found is a stuck RV engine 6 hours away, one way...

Big Block Hemi in Duster and Hood

I would rethink using that in the Duster. Better served in an early hot rod like your dad intended. IMHO Get used hood...paint it. Engine mounts/brackets, trans bracket all that will need to be fabbed. That engine is heavy. What will you use for a transmission? The early ones would have...

What is going on with Trick Flow??

From the SE Tx Pneywoods. There is NO shortage of pine timber, mills have been running as usual, NO big China bug problem in the countryside. The shortage and PRICE is all BS! It is simply demand on lumber and plywood, IMO. Shortage and problem with other areas like aluminum and...

    Value of RV 440/727

I have paid $500 for a good running ones 10 years agao, and now I see some can be had here as cores for $500. Time marches on. Tx. is higher than Mo. too. Less its running, it is a core!... price depends on location and how easy the buyer is to get $$$$ out of! That why gas is higher...
