Most of the A/C was dealer installed, original purchaser more than likely chose to just take the car the way it was delivered to the dealer.

The combustion chamber will cool faster with Aluminum heads regardless of what thermostat you are running. Aluminum dissipates heat very well.

Since you mentioned that you ripped out the A/C...does that mean that you replaced the unit with a non A/C heater? If the answer is no, you will need to do that because all those vacumn controls also controlled the heater defroster. If you need that let me know, I got one from James awhile back...

YES and I have a New sending unit that reads totally wrong. Another thing to consider since we are both in California is the gas you are using, when my friend and I used an octane booster, the cars actually ran hotter....food for thought
