How i took the engine out of mine with a bit of 50 mm angle bolted to the head in the hole on top/centre.Came out at near perfect angle as you can see.

A Carby i got off a mate i tried to get to work on my slant but it was too far gone,it's marked as a Carter RBS 0518 on the engine side,Made in Australia clearly stamped near the throttle side and Email LTD ACF IND on the fender side.

I've got a 170 thermostat in my slant and it gets to operating temp pretty quick and sits on about 90c on the open road doing 110 kmh.I'm happy with that.

Yeah a carby kit would sort it out and the float level too high or some dirt stuck in the needle and seat usually causes the carby to spit fuel out.

Apparently slant's weigh about 285 kgs.

Could it be your speedo cable/speedo making that noise?

Just to add what i use when adjusting when it's running is a bit of cardboard that fits between the guard and top edge of the head and that catches any oil that spatters around,less messy that way.

I agree,i just go for a cruise in mine every day go to the shops or wherever.Visit mates and have had young people at the garage or shops asking me what it is and then saying thats way cool.puts a smile on my face and get the odd wave out on the road.

When i bought my 1964 aussie valiant slant 6 auto and drove it from perth to geraldton where i live it used 42 litres over the 426 kilometre trip that works out at about 29 MPG,go figure but thats all i could squeeze into the tank when i got home.

Is your timing set right?point gap?Getting enough spark,could be a few things,have you set the tappets recently?Float level in the carby could be out.

Be around 160 horses i suppose.

We just used the bellhousing boltholes.

I used a bit of 6mm x 50 mm angle bolted in the middle of the head.picked it up damn near perfect.Theirs two bolt holes on top of the head,you have to take your rocker cover off(one in the middle one at the back,use both for eng and tranny and the middle one for engine only)

Only one way to find out,sit it in there and go from there.

Yes a while ago i googled s/6 lifting lug and found mine,you use both lugs for engine and tranny and the middle lug for motor only.Thats what they used in the factory,i had a big a frame to lift mine out so room was goood.:smile:

Heres how i lifted mine out,just used a bit of 6mm thick 50 mm angle bolted it into the middle hole in the top of the head(with the rocker cover off)And it picked up just about right for the angle of the motor.:smile:

Can someone tell me who i could piston rings(30 thou over)and a set of main and conrod bearings(standard size)for my 225 slant 6?Just wondering if i could get these parts shipped to australia.Cheers BIGALL.
