    Brakes for the Missile-need advice

I too am interested in the 12.19" brake package if they will be adequate to stop the car. I have 10.75" discs in the rear. The 12" discs are roughly $800, and the wilwood spindles are $147 ea. The larger brakes are from $1200 up to ridiculous. Andrew

    Brakes for the Missile-need advice

I have ordered a tubular front end from Denny which uses Mustang II spindles. The question here is whether I need 12" discs or will 11" do. The 11" solution is easy and relatively inexpensive, the 12" route is more complicated. I can only find 12" "Drag" brakes from wilwood, but they are .81"...

On a Budget? Say No to Rear Disks

e5, if you have an 8 1/4" the jeep cherokee discs are a DIRECT bolt on, if you have an 8 3/4" it takes a little more time and effort but it still is a "budget" route to go and stay all MoPar. Andrew

Why is my brake pedal so high ?!

Thanks dusterdude, your third pic says it all. Thats the exact condition I have. However when I owned the Missile in the 70s I could brake and apply the gas just by rotating my foot on my heel. Lifting my leg half way to my chest was not required. Andrew

Rear disc Brakes on 8 3/4

If I may say nice machining. You how ever still have to get a longer axle, and build spacers for the bearing package to push the bearing back into the tube. Dont forget that. This is exactly the same problem created with the Jeep Cherokee swap. Andrew

Buschi, here is the link to the thread for the 8 3/4" Yes all of those parts will work, except the brake hoses. The issue is you are pulling your axle and bearings 5/16" out of the tube and Diff. Andrew http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=105241

Jeep rear discs on an 8 3/4 axle solution

MT, when you get the E brake lines from the jeep, clean them up and remove the brackets by opening them up. I made simple brackets from 16Ga sheet metal and screwed them in place next to the seat belt mounting plates. They are about 2" tall. The torque needed to secure them there causes the 'S'...

Jeep rear discs on an 8 3/4 axle solution

A quick update, the E brakes will work as well. I used the cables to the calipers from the jeep and the duster cable from the tranny mount back. All I had to do now is re locate the supports about 2" forward and clip it all together. I did have to slot the cable to cable clip for the jeep end...

Thanks, here are the final pics of the transplant. I will say this is going as slow as molasses. I still need one caliper rebuilding kit and one hose, will be in tomorrow. I have created two gaskets for each side out of 1/64" fabric reinforced neoprene gasket material, and installed them between the axle tube and the dust plate and the disc backing plate. I used the metal crush gasket as the template, and secured them with black RTV. I then installed all the E...

MT, I think the E cable is the determining factor here. Wracks, yes they do its the means of securing the actual axles that is different. 8 1/4" uses C clips. Andrew
