Why so critical of "universal" flex radiator hoses?

I love seeing an early 70's Monte Carlo with the 3 foot flexible top radiator hose arcing gracefully over the great divide between the radiator and the motor. So classy.

Do all A bodies have overheating problems?

When I bought my '72 Scamp, I installed all of the factory A/C parts. Radiator, shroud, fan, spacer and hood mounted seal to radiator core support. Also a 50/50 coolant mix with a 180 degree stat. No cooling issues. However, it is a stock 225 slant, but, I had all the parts on hand from an a/c...

Do all A bodies have overheating problems?

I'm going to throw my 3 cents (due to inflation) in. I have seen too many radiators not getting air to flow through them due to crud(cottonwood trees, etc) blocking the fins. Also, too much paint on the fins. And it doesn't help if you stack coolers. My Old Timer test is: with the car running...

spectra premium heater core issue ? / anyone recommend a good heater core ?

If the heater hoses are both hot to the touch and the center of the heater core is cool to the touch, maybe, just maybe, the heater core is made with thick wall tubing or a material that is not letting the heat radiate out of it.

The future upgrade of the Ronco Feel-O-Stat then could be a color coded pad on the wrap with the instructions: Pad is blue: COLD Pad is red: HOT. For those folks with diminished feelings in their hands.

    Heater box...maybe I left a piece out?

Bought a '72 Scamp a couple of years ago. 53,000 mile car. First fall I had it, you would have thought I had the vent doors open. Needed to replace the heater core the next spring and while removing the heater box, I noticed a large gap between the box and the cowl. The box didn't have this rod...

    Help with radiator

I'm guessing bad radiator if the stock radiator kept it cool, and this one doesn't. While at idle, place a couple of dryer sheets on the front of the grille. If they won't stay, air flow is the issue. If the air flow is good, cool the car down, remove the lower radiator hose at the radiator...
