    Heads, 675 vs 302

The holley I picked up is a spread bore thermoquad replacement carb, the primaries are tiny that helped low speed drivability, and fuel mileage, however it's no slouch when I kick it in the *** even with 2.76 gears. I guess instead of wasting time/money swapping the heads I need to get working...

    Heads, 675 vs 302

I've never put a vacuum gauge on it, but it really likes 32-34 degrees total timing, it came alive when I swapped the eddy 600 for the holley 650. Sounds like I might as well leave it alone and save the fresh heads for the fresh short block laying in the corner waiting for the green light from...

    Heads, 675 vs 302

Who knows what it is, it's fairly lopey. The old man I bought the car from had no idea about anything that was useful other than and I quote "one of them there 5/8 mopar cams"

    Heads, 675 vs 302

The 302's are just factory rebuilt heads, but if there's not going to be a big bump in compression I might as well save them for a rainy day and the fresh roller short block. I was hoping to pick up a few hp.

    Heads, 675 vs 302

***disclaimer : I know I "should just go buy a set of eddy heads or magnums" that's not an option right now***. I have a set of 302's ready to bolt on and go, my motor already has a set of 675's on it, I'm not looking to send the heads off and have port work done, or bigger valves installed...

Debating on a head and cam swap on the 318

What about some minor port work? A buddy of mine is a well known porter locally, he's done all the head work on diesel power magazines "project x" which holds multiple records, he's volunteered his services, but I'm afraid too much port work will kill it in the low/mid range. We cc'd the heads...

Debating on a head and cam swap on the 318

I was looking at that crower. Will the 920's in stock form like that cam?

Debating on a head and cam swap on the 318

I'm not real sure what the gearing is now, and the converter foot brakes to around 2k I've had it flash around 2400, idle quality isn't a concern nor is vacuum. The headers I have are the typical 1-5/8" with 3 inch collectors. I'm also running an MSD 6AL, with a pro billet distributor w/o...

Debating on a head and cam swap on the 318

In a recent trade I inherited a set of 920 casting heads, they need freshened up a bit but already have 1.81" valves and have a decent looking closed chamber, I'm planning the standard 3 angle valve job, and a good resurfacing. I also got some of the "white performance" stainless roller rockers...

What oil filter do you run and why

I agree, I was a low level Chrysler tech for 10 years and never had one come back, nobody really knows who actually makes them, I love them myself. There's one on my car (not just because I still get them at a deep discount). On my Z71 it's had nothing but wix on it since day one, 186,000 miles...

    Head milling Safe Max?

I wish I knew on a Chrysler. I agree with stroker on the cc theory. When I worked in a machine shop we cut a lot of heads down to the intake seat on the other brands.

Need part numbers for correct lokar linkage parts

I wish I would have kept the package mine came in. I had to cut the throttle cable Way down but it fits the pedal nice and goes in the factory hole perfect, just don't lose your plastic retainer. The kick down cable is almost too short right out of the box, had to get creative on that one...

This mopar stuff is confusing lol. I conned my buddy out of the magnums, they're going over to the head porter next week, a minor port job, bowl work, and some valve unshrouding, a 5 angle valve job. After that it's just a matter of time!

They are domes, I plan on hand fitting them to the combustion chamber and they'll have to have some shallow valve reliefs cut. Once again I'm basing this build off some of my chebbie engines. I'm not sure why I keep hearing things like "you can't run more than 9:1 compression on a mopar" "you...

Well it might be back to the camshaft drawing board for me then..

Hmmm....That's good food for thought, I've got a lot to learn about chrysler engines, I guess you can't build and twist them like a chebbie.

Wow, cuda, I need to come pick up cores wherever you're at. You can't touch a 360 here for under $400 give or take on the magnums. So far the only thing that has cost me are the pistons/cam. I traded a rifle for the machine work, so if I can get the heads and rockers from my buddy fairly...

With a large bore, thick head gasket it should be around 10.5:1, and yes it's studded with arp studs. I guess the comments stem from the love hate relationship between Chevy and mopar guys. On paper it looks like a screamer, I might open up the heads a little bit so it's not wheezy on the top...

I wasn't given a free 360 core, and IMO there's noting quite like a high winding small block, sometimes less is more. I'm not worried about it being a pump gas motor, it might see the street, but I doubt it, it's only going to be driven 1/8 mile at a time.

A friend donated a 318 to my cause, it's disassembled and off to the machine shop. My plans are a healthy overbore, it's already .040 and had a ridge, so it's going to have to go .060 the machinist is going to do the oil system mods, line hone it, and torque plate hone as well. The crank is...
