I was in a pinch and would have had to order that hose. I bought a hose with that 90 degree bend in it and cut off the rest of the hose that I didn't need. Cost a few bucks more but it fit perfectly and I didn't have to wait.

First thing I would check is the belt tension and condition of the belt.

I had a '73 Scamp and the gasket on the rear (firewall end) of the exhaust manifold had a leak and blew on the firewall. Worth a check.

Up here in Canada it takes 4 cdn quarts.

Had the same thing happen with a '71 Scamp 6 cyl. It was a plugged breather cap. Pull the cap from the grommet on the valve cover and see what happens at idle. Good luck and keep us posted with any results.
