    Only major difference as far as I know between 72 and 74 are the engine mounts style, steering linkage (center link) and k frame. 72 uses biscuit style eng and trans mounts, 74 uses the spool style. The corresponding k frames are also different. I dont beleive this will affect header fitment...

    Cut away of a Dyno Max muffler #18381

    When I was young and poor, my 80 volare ex cop car, 318 with single exhaust needed a muffler. I straight piped it but left the cat converter in. It sounded great and was not too noisy.

    Collector gasket preference?

    Remflex and never look back. They are awesome, you can drop the exhaust and re use them many times. They also make, IMO, the best header or manifold to head gasket. They are available on amazon or the online auto parts supplier of your choice.

    How to chase helicoiled threads?

    Shouldn't be using a tap to chase holes...... should use a proper thread chaser. Difderent taps, especially cheaper ones, will remove more material resulting in a sloppy hole... no one likes a sloppy hole, LOL. Thread chasers do not cut, they just clean and should work on a work on a helicoil...

    Guys used to do this, in fact I believe that some mufflers even came.with a drain hole. The idea is if the car only ever makes short trips it never has a chance to burn off moisture (water is a combustion by product) out of the mufflers, where it accumulates and rusts the muffler out...
