    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

Measure the fork pivot to engine mounting surface of the original bellhousing, then compare to the Lakewood and add the thickness of the block saver plate, I'll bet you'll find a difference.

    Differential or wheel bearing???

Put the rear of the car up on jackstands (do this safely because you'll be under it), start the engine and put it in gear, hopefully both wheels will spin, if not you might have to back off the brake adjustment if one wheel doesn't want to spin freely. Then lay under the car and take a long...

    Dana 60 donor

4.11's are a little steep for the street unless you're just staying around town. Don't forget about the drive shaft, it's going to have to be shortened for the dana.

Manual Valve Body, best one to get?

If you need to use 1st gear to get up to speed or under competition get a valve body WITH "low band apply". If you can run with just using 2nd and high gear you can use a valve body without "low band apply" and just lock out 1st gear on the shifter to be safe. Valve bodies without "low band...

    Which rear end to use?

The lock right locker is a pretty noisy unit, I have one in my daily driver Cummins powered Dodge W250. As far as being strong, it's held up so far and I don't baby it. It seemed to take a while to "wear in" where it would unlock quite often going around a corner. After about 500 miles it has...

    dana or 8 3/4 narrowing

I just skinnied up a dana 60 for my Dart recently with basic fab tools. I used the axle itself w/green style bearing installed as fixture to keep the housing end square while tack welding to the tube. I fried the end on with my old stick welder as I only have a 110v mig. After welding I can...

    Dodge w100

Pull the inspection cover off the transmission and check the torque converter to see if it has a balance weight on it where it bolts to the flex plate, from what you're describing it sounds like someone put a neutral balanced torque converter in it somehow. Also another thing to check is the...

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

Yeah, so far so good, put about 10000 daily driven miles on it so far.

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

Yeah the D70 is pretty much a slightly bigger version of the D60, it might have been because of the 3.54 gears, your results might vary. It wasn't the end of the world, just an extra few steps I had to do to install, no bearing or gear lash setup just remove the diff, pull the ring gear, install...

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

Just FYI to install mine in a Dana 70 w/3.54 gears I had to remove the diff from the housing and pull the ring gear off to get all the locker pieces in.

    Unknown transmission

The magnum 318 came out in '92, the 727 torqueflite (which got renamed to the 36RH/37Rh in the early 90's) was used up until around '94 so unless someone was mixing and matching parts that engine and tranny combo should be a 92-94.

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

I have a powertrax locker in my 90 Dodge w250 CTD and have mixed feelings about it. It's great for putting power to both wheels and it was cheaper than a limited slip diff and it was fairly easy to install, but it absolutely sucks when turning while off throttle like in parking lots or going...

    A903 - which one???

Should be a pad on the passenger side of the trans with a partial vin# stamped into it, this will help figure out what year the trans is. Or try and find a casting date somewhere on the case. Also a picture is worth 1000 words, helps eliminate the guesswork.

Or you can punch a hole, weld a nut to the pan and use a bolt w/copper washer as a drain plug. These are things most of us have just laying around.

How to tell what type of Transmission I have

Look at the drivers side of the transmission where the shift levers are, if there is a bolt on cover where the shift levers stick out of the trans it's an a230, if no bolt on side cover it's an a903.
