You are correct, it's marine. Other than being on the heavy side it will work fine on your 318. You might have to adjust the floats in the the carb though because it will sit tilted forward a little.

3 or 4 screws behind the gas cap and it just wiggles out of the tank. Don't over fill the tank because the gas will slosh out of the cap when you drive and run down the quarter panel and eat the paint.

That is a slant 6 not the "hemi" 6 in an austailian early valiant. The manifold is probably a Cain with 3 webber side draft carbs.

Its just a heat sheild to keep oil off the exaust egr port. It wont cause an intake vacuum leak.

Marine carbs have no vacuum advance port for the distributor. It looks like a 650 cfm.
