    340 casting 2780930-2

The block doesn't determine the compression ratio. The pistons and heads do. All 340s had the same casting number. The casting date will tell you a lot more about the engine. It's cast right on the side of the block.

    Shady Dell W-5 HP gain?

Don't forget that you have to pay for a valve job after the porting, too. Get in touch with Ryan for the pricing. There are prices on his website, but they may be out of date.

    Shady Dell W-5 HP gain?

W5s have terribly small ports out of the box. You should expect huge gains in performance if you build the rest of the combo to match the heads he provides for you. I had him CNC a set I have, but I haven't built the engine yet. Most of the guys at Moparts are blown away by the increased...

    68 Dodge Dart engine swap??

The slant-six transmission will not work with any V8s. 340s are cool, but a 360 would be the same amount of work, for less money. Unless you already own a 340, that is. There is no real advantage to changing the k-member, unless you go with a 73+ unit. The driver's side mount is actually...

    Chrysler RED anti-freeze

http://www.popularmechanics.com/how_to_central/automotive/1272436.html How about just pouring orange antifre eze into every cooling system, say, yours? Sorry, but it's not that simple. The new organic acid antifreezes may be used only if the cooling system has an aluminum radiator (rather...

    318 to 360

If you swap to a 360, you'll need to swap to a different driver's side motor mount bracket (available at most parts stores) and either get a new torque converter (recommended), or rebalance the one you have. Other than that, most things should match up. Of course, you might want to go to...

    Head Pics-do they look OK?

I crack me up sometimes. Not that the situation is funny, but sometimes if we don't laugh, all we can do is cry. Hey, what was the part number on those pistons again? And the bore size? 4.03?

    Head Pics-do they look OK?

Ah, that would be a lot cheaper to "transport" than me shipping him some from up here. 302s are good heads for what he's doing, too. Make sure you pay GTX for insurance, in case he leaves them on the wrong porch.

    Head Pics-do they look OK?

Are they both like that? Is one maybe cracked, and the other has the "rust-out"? I might have a head or two you could have. What are you building?
