I may not be right but wont those bolt flat against the heads and you need a 3/4 or 1/2 inch plug at the end of the manifold where the smog pump connects only?

If the heads are plugged wont that block the manifold holes with the correct gasket.?

I,m h piped and adding mine in at the collectors.

Just thinking out loud here. How can it leak with the bolt in and a flat washer on it. Seems it would just be dead space.

Run one way valves like stock air pump setups use; TRhe ones that add air to the exhaust manifolds. They only open when under a vaccumn.

I have had good luck brazing them with a torch.I broke the one on my tractor in two and brazed it back together.

I hear what you are saying but why dont your headers fit? power steering box,drag link or just wont bolt up.Any year a body 318 manifolds should fit. If its a steering coupler hitting theres a different joint. There are several fixes if we know the problem. How hard could it be? Its an a body...

Why are you taking the manifold off? If its a valve job or rebuild cut the head off and let the machine shop worry about it

I use a homemade concoction that I think is as good or better than pb blaster. 50/50 mix of acetone and trans fluid. Acetone etches into cracks and trans fluid lubes. Try it sometime. Just be careful around paint.

what strokes that 522 gonna be? 4.25? thats gonna make the piston dwell at the top a long time for a street motor.Gonna be hard to keep it from detonating.
