    performance curve distributor

depending on how radical a build is, you may see very little change in fuel economy without vacuum. Vacuum advance sure comes up for debate a lot. BUT that is a different topic... Curve can make a big difference. This year I shortened my curve to 12 degrees (was 16). Bumped initial...

    NOT Good....

If a customer brought me the same thing, I'd recommend... Pull the pan, and scrape out the big chunks. Pull the oil pump, Take the cover off, and clean it out Prime the pump ect, prior to starting it. Cross your fingers. If the pressure stays up, you're fine. If it starts to drop...

    NOT Good....

I'm a pro too man, and I know what you mean. There are days, you're ready to set it on fire. It seems that much worse when it's your own car. Cam failure is an epidemic these days. Get another cam. If it's used, make sure you have the old lifters to match. Up until recently...

Which heads to use on my 383?

If you measure the deck clearance when the heads are off(how far the piston is down the hole) you can use a compression calculator to figure out the actual compression. If it is an hp motor it may be as high as 9 to one. If it a dished piston 2 bbl motor, it's closer to 8 to one. With...

    what am i doing wrong?

All I'm saying, is that your dyno sheet shows that your motor makes around 400 hp, while your time slip shows something much less. Something must not be right now that it's in the car, or something in the combo, doesn't agree with with the application. At a glance, it all seems to be...

    what am i doing wrong?

I think we're missing something here. I'm assuming the dyno results are from an engine dyno, not chassis. That said, what is different now that your in the car? 1)air quality? What are the under hood temps? Are your hood scoops funtional, or just for show? 2)fuel system.? Are you...

    Hows this combo sound ?

Prove me wrong man, :D I'm definately not some all knowing mopar guru....far from it. As for the 650? On paper it's the right one. Ask cuda66273 for a guru's opinion. I'll stand by what I said as it being a better choice for a 380 crate motor, than the 750. Of course, you...

    Hows this combo sound ?

I didn't realize the cam was quite that big in that. A mighty demon is the right choice at that rate. I still think 11's is a little much for it. Certainly the stall and gears are a big boost. I saw a demon in mopar muscle with one of these that ran high 12's with 410's You'll...

    Hows this combo sound ?

The crate motor isn't a bad motor, but a couple of things.... 1)the cam in it, is too mild for a mighty demon, and it's a little small for the 750(at least in a demon since it's wet flowwed) A 650 speed demon would be a better choice on that motor. 2)it's 75-100 horse shy of an 11.99...

adding HP to 273 small block

The 273 is a small mill. Make your choices on the conservative side. If you're not into a tear down, buy small bolt ons. A big carb will kill you, so will a big cam ect. I would start with regular bolt ons...a good dual plain manifold, headers, a carb upgrade, a good ignition system...
