    5-speed options

I believe the 1st gear is 3.27 in the TKO-500 that I have. I'm running 3.91 in my vert and it launches very hard. You're not in first gear for long.

Yep got rid of it. Nothing a cut-off wheel couldn't take care of.

    t5 trans swap?

I have the Keisler setup in my convertible. I had to do lots of cutting and a BFH to make everything work with my tti exhaust and headers. The early a-body is a bear. I'm using the hydraulic TO and slave from Keisler. I wish I had a different slave cylinder. I'm not very fond of the Keisler unit...

    Hydraulic clutch?

Yeah I agree with the above. Avoid the Keisler stuff if possible. They do use the Wilwood stuff for the later a-bodies. The early a-body slave is a custom piece. Seems to work good but the geometry could be better. I have a hydraulic throwout from Keisler. I think it was from a Ford Explorer or...

    4 spd Installation tricks

Yeah I did the broom stick trick back in high school with my slant. LOL. Yep rolled off the jack twice last night. I had to call it quits after that to find a better way. Hope to have better luck Wednesday on my day off. Thanks cracked I will cut the heads of the long bolts I was using.

    4 spd Installation tricks

Such a *****. Either way. Tried the bench press method only after the jacks method failed. I need to make a cradle. I'll make something our of some scrap wood or something when I get back fro vacation. i was hoping to have it running this weekend. Oh well it can wait. I pulled the tranny out...

    4 spd Installation tricks

Mine seems to be hanging up and won't goin all the way. Wondering if the snout is hiting the clutch disc pilot. Guessing it moved when I pulled the tranny out. I need to get a clutch alignment tool I know but do you guys have any tricks to make it easier to install the 4-spd? Or is it just...

    Which oil and brand

Which brand and weight oil do you guys like in your A833 4-speed tranny? I need to refill mine and was curious because of all the new oils and synthetics that are out there now.

66 Barracuda 4 speed crossmember and floor tunnel

Crossmember is the exact same. You may want to get the 4 speed rubber mount. You can get a fiberglass one from Brewer's Performance but it says it is for 64-65. Not sure why it would not work on a 66. Ebay and swap meets are a good source as well. Someone else may chime in. Welcome to the site

    Tremec Kit Question

I have the Keisler setup with the tremec. I've seen the design from Classic Mopar in person and it is 1,000 times better than Keisler's. I wish I had their crossmember instead of the grief I had to go through welding and cutting and fabricating my crossmember to fit. Stick with their design...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Don, Here's the clutch/pressure plate that came with the Keisler setup. I believe this style clutch is common for GM. Came with a GM throwout bearing. Cheers -dave

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

it's made by sachs. I will post a picture of the pressure plate tomorrow. I'll be working on building my drivetrain cradle.

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Sounds like josh had a helluva time with everything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I luckily mounted everything up and it works well so far. I have the 5-speed tranny too which may have been the source of many of the problems. When I get to the hydraulic clutch master cylinder and throwout...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Thanks for the info Don. I think Keisler may be worried about people trying to romp too hard on the tranny and if they blow it up then they may try to blame Keisler. Seems like a cover your own *** tactic to me. Liability is a huge deal these days. I would tend to believe the Tremec boys too. I...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Well,to make the tremec fit on the lakewood bellhousing they had to customize the housing. They filled some holes and placed new mounting holes for the tranny. It seems they really did a lot of stuff to make it fit properly. Everything bolted on perfectly. Looks very clean. I have not done the...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Here's a picture of the Lakewood and 340. Not installed in the car yet but getting closer to the full mock up with my exhaust and starter. Will have the headers next week and hopefully will have time to put them on during the weekend.

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

I had to buy a special mini-starter from TTI. It is made by Powermaster and was specially designed for the early A-body and the Tti exhaust system. No doubt. I will mock up the whole system before placing it in my car just to see if I am going to have issues. I plan on sending the pictures...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

Just another addition. I will have the tti full exhaust system, lakewood and keisler setup. I believe everything should fit but will be tight. Tti could not answer me as far as the Lakewood housing. Once I get my exhaust I'm going to mock the tranny, lakewood, exhaust and engine in the garage...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

I will post the conversion with tons of pictures once I get started on it. Yes they give you a sheetmetal template in the kit. I am using their hydraulic clutch and throwout bearing. It will be another month or two before I can get started on the engine and tranny swap. The car is being painted...

Early A body. SB with Lakewood

I have the same issue but it should work just fine as far as I know. Keisler sold me the Lakewood bellhousing for my 340 5-speed swap going into a 66 Valiant. They did not mention any serious mods that had to be made. I don't think they are selling it anymore because they are selling their own...

    5-speed swap

i have had the Keisler unit sitting in my garage for almost a year now. Working on getting a rottiserie built to do the body work and paint. Looks like we are in the same boat. I would go ahead and get the hydraulic clutch setup and the Lakewood Bellhousing. It's bitching. Pretty red too...
