Fuel tank sending unit leaked - fixed

I noticed the one that came with my replacement unit was thinner and lighter. When I installed the sending unit the new lock ring went on by hand without the wrench so I cleaned up the original and fit snug no sealant with light grease on the ring and no leaks.

    line diameter for V8 cars

I heard even the big block cars ran 5/16" when I had mine out I decided to upgrade to 3/8" because I heard it helps keep the fuel cooler plus I went with a 3/8" sending unit with the return line nipple so if I go with fuel injection its there if I need it.

Is it just me or is it missing the cover for the accelerator pump cover or is that a vent with the missing arm? I had one on my 77 power wagon. Traded up for a 4 barrel and regretted it.
