670 holley avenger idle air adjustments?????

You should only make adjustments in 1/8 of a turn increments. You should also be using a vacuum gauge or tach when doing this. You want the highest vacuum or Tom reading.

    Premium Fuel?

E10 has been the only fuel availble in my area since the 90's. I have never had an issue with it in my cars or lawn equipment.

    600 vs 750 Holley

I have had 600, 670, 725 and 750 vacuum secondary carbs on my 360. The throttle response and mid range performance with the 600 and 670 is far superior to the 725 Demon or the 3310 750. The 725 and 750 had a slight top end (above 4500 rpm) over the 600 but no advantage over the 670. The 600...

    Which carb should I get?

I would go with the 600 whether it is the Edelbrock or a Holley. The Avenger comes with fittings and rubber hose for the dual feed so that shouldn't be an issue with clearance to the intake. Also, there are so many dual feed line kits there shouldn't be an issue to find one that works. I have a...

    Power valve

FWIW, the power valve does not have an impact on the idle circuit. Changing it will not fix a overly rich idle. I would be looking at more initial timing and ensuring that you don't have the transfer slots uncovered.

    Power valve

FYI, whether you have two or four corner idle adjustments there is still a secondary idle circuit, its just that on a two corner carb you can't adjust the secondary side.

    Air Filter Questions

I use them on all my vehicles including the Barracuda. I prefer the oiled foam when I can find them over the oiled gauze but I have a K&N on the Cuda. I became sold on this type of filte back in the 60's when I raced motorcyle enduros. Back then bikes came with paper filters and on a long...

    which carb?

I am running a 670 Street Avenger on my 360 and I have tried a bunch of different carbs bigger and smaller and the car runs the best with the 670. Don't know anything about Allstate and how good their rebuilds are.

Not Passing Smog Need Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! You have to smog test a car that old in AZ. Boy I thought Mass was bad for that stuff but 84 and older is exempt from emmissions, 85-95 they put on the rollers and 96 and newer they just check for OBD diagnostic codes.

    problem tuning carb

I agree the bigger the cam the more initial timing need. Step number one in tuning an engine is to get the timing right.

    which carb?

I have a 670 Holley Street Avenger on my 360 and love it. My enigne is far from stock but the 670 basically bolted on and required zero jetting changes, only tweaked the idle speed, checked the float levels and went one spring softer in the secondaries. Not to say you may not need to make...

Stock 340 is a holley 570 big enough?

The way your original post was written implied that because a 340 came with an 850 thermoquad that a 570 or 670 was not big enough. My post was for the benifit of the original poster. Putting an 850 square bore carb on a stock 340 is grossly over carbing. A real skillful tuner can get it to work...

Stock 340 is a holley 570 big enough?

You can't make a comparison between a spread bore thermoquad and a square bore carb when it comes to cfm ratings. The Thermoquad likely has smaller primaries than even the 570 Holley and a stock 340 would never have opened the secondaries fully to realize that 850 cfm rating. If you have one...

    Holley 390 stumble

The 390 Holley I had on my \6 ran flawlessly for 30k miles. As I recall I settled on the long yellow spring in the secondaries, the pump cam in the #2 position, went up 2 jet sizes on the main jets and used a #10.5 power valve.

    Vacuum or Mechanical Secondaries?

The difference between a well tuned mechanical and a well tune vacuum secondary carb is only going to be a .1 or two. The vacuum secondary is going to be easier to set up for a novice, is more tolerant to being oversize and will give you better mileage. For a street driven car there is really...

    Which avenger?

I am running a 670 on a 360 that is built about the same. I have tried a 725 and a 750 and the bigger carbs don't run any harder on the top end as measured by the butt dyno but the 670 has much better low and mid range response not to mention it gets about 5 mpg more fuel mileage. Of your car...

    PCV breathers for my engine???

Yes, there should be a small filter that follows the radius of the filter housing.

    PCV breathers for my engine???

The hose to the air cleaner is so the engine gets clean filtered air.

    PCV breathers for my engine???

The PCV system sucks the fumes that build up in the crank case and returns them back into the engine to be burnt. On a V engine the pcv valve is typically on one valve cover and a breather is on the other. The breather is there to allow air back in or you could create a vacuum in the crankcase...

school me on squirter cam colors

The formula is calculating the actual air flow potential of the engine with an 85% volumetric efficiency which is where most street engines are. The 525 CFM rating of the Demon carb is at a 1.5"Hg pressure drop across the carb. If you have that much pressure drop on the engine it's a...

    Jeting a 750

Stay with the stock jets and the plain spring or the next stiffer one (brown) in the secondaries. You may need to go bigger or smaller on the jets and will likely work down to the purple spring. FWIW, my 360 has run a very traction limited 13.7 at 102 with a 600 Holley and when I swapped on...

Not enough octane? what you guys think?

Your statement about compression is far from the truth. I am running a measured 10.6:1 compression with 190-200 psi of cranking pressure on 89 octane and there are others on this forum with similar set ups doing the same. It's not the static compression that determines the octane need...

    Plug wire lengths

I purchase universal wires and cut them to length as I install them. The last set I purcahsed were Accel 300 8.8 wires. The universal set had multi-angle boots on the plug end. This allowed me to keep them staight for all but cylinders 5 & 7. 5 & 7 I make 90 degrees so I can route them under the...

Air gap manifolds in cold weather

I have one on the 360 in my 68 Barracuda and the engine does not like to take throttle until it's warmed up in temperatures below 45 degrees. I have driven the car in 20 degree weather and it can be 4 or 5 miles before the engine does not need to be feathered to take gas. My car is a manual...

    Holley Idle Screws Not Responsive

I have an XE268H cam in my 360 and it likes 17 degrees of intial advance, I would think you will need that or more. If your MP disributor was built after 2002 it will have an adjustable mechanical advance, just look below the plate the pick is mounted on for two button head torx screws to...

    carb spacers???

Wood or plastic will work. They also sell large sheet aluminum heat shields that go between the carb and intake toblock heat rising off the engine. This with a 1/2 wood or plastic spacer is going to be the best. With a dual plane manifold you would want a 4 hole spacer. A 1/2 wood took care...

    Magnum Intake on LA engine?

I was at the local bone yard a couple of Saturdays ago and all the clunker vehicles had their engines sprayed with flourescent green paint and had an official looking tag wired on stating they were part of the clunker program and had been run with whatever the goop they put in them and had...

    Carb CFM help

The 360 in my Cuda is very similar to yours and I have had 600, 670, 725 and 750 carbs on it. The 600 and 670 have great low mid rpm throttle reponse. By the But dyno there is no difference between the 670, 725 and 750 carbs. The 725 and 750 don't have anywhere near the throttle reponse in the...

    Anyone using Crosswind 55026 manifold

I have been running one now for more than 35,000 miles and have not had any problems. The fit and finish is good and the flexibility of having the dual mounting provisions is a feature that Edelbrock really dropped the ball on by not designing in when they did the Air-Gap. Can't say how it...
