Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Oh yeah, still going on...just waiting for spring here in Michigan to start testing.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Yes you can use the a body driver manifold, but they are very hard to come by. My kit does work with power steering...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Its been a long time since i looked at it, but im 99% sure the magnum manifold even in the correct intended mounting location does not clear the factory a body power steering box. Also there is very little room for the down pipe, and the cross over on the pass side if you do it this way.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Manifolds are a good option for most any turbo build. They are much better at resisting heat cracking then standard mild steel headers, and the turbo itself is usually a much smaller restriction then any manifold oultet anyway, so there usually isn't any power degradation at all. That's...

Oh the green car is the real deal...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

My personal motor has a 1/2 filled girdle block, with head and main studs. The test motor for these kits will be a 100% stock bottom end, stock replacement head gaskets, and no studs. The idea is to prove out what a STOCK motor can withstand... modified motors will obviously take more power...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Yes, a turbo is MUCH easier on parts to make power with. Not only does the piston maintain more pressure on the exhaust stroke (which is easier on rods/rod bolts), but more importantly you end up running a lot less timing on a turbo motor. As max pressure gets near TDC, it just tries to push...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Oh yeah, it'll all work on pump gas, it'll just make more on e85 or race gas.
  9. D

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I'll do a pump gas tune after the e85. Just easier to push the limits on good fuel to start with.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I'll start at 8psi and go up from there. The car is going to be run non intercooled on e85, so I know the fuel will take quite a bit of boost. I've run 23psi with my good pistons/rods in my green car. (still a cast crank).

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Just waiting for the snow to melt now to start testing... I've hesitated to show pics, but the design is pretty solid now so I don't mind showing pictures. The bright green is in an A-body, and the brown is a B-body.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

No cost will be reased until they are through testing and tooled up/ready for sale. Just too many variables that can change cost until it's all sorted out and tooled up.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Yeah, trying to accommodate multiple cars, years, etc...is a time consuming problem. If I only had to make these fit one body, or one year, I could knock one of these out REAL fast!

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

The first kit is done...last biggest challenge was to see if I could make it fit the early driver side waterpump outlet. Unfortunately that just flat out won't work. Just not enough room between the battery tray, lower hose, fan shroud, etc... still hoping to have the car running before...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I'm not ready to release any pricing on this stuff yet... still need to get the final design to the mandrel bender. But I assure you if it won't beat the available procharger/vortech/Paxton kit prices by a fair amount, I wouldn't be pursuing this. Testing will be done this summer, so the goal...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

First prototype is just about ready for final weld. Will be going on a junk yard 5.2L magnum motor with small cam ([email protected] .500" lift) and a m1 intake. Will be going in a demon this spring for testing... stay tuned! Kit will get final tested for fitting soon, but is intended to fit A/B/E...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Just wanted to post a quick note... first prototype kit is about done and will be going in my buddies demon this spring for testing on a Junk Yard 5.2L magnum... I'll keep you guys posted! Just to clear up the question... my car is non-intercooled on E85. With the E85 you can run quite a bit...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Not much progress this summer, as I've spent more time tuning/working on my current setup to enjoy racing with my dad... but still planning to get back at it this fall. First kit is very close to start testing.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

No crickets... don't let the sound of the cutoff wheel working away confuse you... lol Priority right now is to get my '62 back together for race season since I spent all winter on the turbo kit stuff. Just got the new PTC converter back yesterday and trans is back in the car today. My plan...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Unfortunately I have no idea if it would fit a RHD , and no real way to try it on any cars around here. My guess is that the downpipe would hit the master cylinder. Other then that it SHOULD fit though.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Ha ha ha... I'm 100% sure I'm not the first one to gauge interest, and neither were you. Top Fuel Dart offered kits a few years ago without much success. I believe the key is to tool them up, and produce a lot of them to get the cost down for everyone. I'm all for seeing mopar turbo stuff...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I went to a plastic fuel cell, but only because the fuel in my original '62 tank was so varnished I was afraid to run the stock one. Not to mention I knew it really needed to have a sump for the hard launches. I wouldn't be afraid to run E85 in a stock steel tank though. Out in the garage...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

My kit won't make 1000hp+. It's geared towards the 400~700hp crowd, and can be pushed to 800~900hp with turbo upgrades. At some point the manifolds, hot side size, etc become airflow limitations to make insane power. Sizing all of that stuff large for the rare 1000hp+ customer would hurt...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

There are lots of reasons not to copy my current stuff. Radiator move, requires hood latch relocation, no room for an intercooler, mounting required unique pulley spacers, unique (thin body ford) alternator solution, etc... New kits will address all of those (and many other...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

The problem with my current setup pictured above is that it requires the radiator to move. Notice it's on the front side of the core support. That isn't possible on all body styles.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

It’s not that carbs work on negative pressure, it’s that they work on pressure differential. The atmospheric pressure around us is right around 14.7psi (depending on the weather). When the piston moves down on the intake stroke, it’s the pressure above the carb PUSHING the...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Thought I'd provide some updates for you guys. Still plugging along, but the weather (and new jobs for my wife and I) have slowed things down a bit. Just thought I'd post a few pics for you guys to drool and dream on. The bright green is an A-body (71 demon) that I'm using for packaging...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I can supply anything you'd like in the kits. Offshore to USA. Obviously the offshore stuff is cheaper (about 1/3 the price) and proven to be quite reliable too. But everyone has a different budget.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

That is one thing I can't answer yet. I am making the hot sides as compact as possible, but until I try one on a car I won't know for sure. I am just about ready to start test fitting on more cars. So far I can only 100% confirm 67+ a bodies, and b bodies.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Kits will be available in anything from 69mm to 88mm, intercooled/non-intercooled, power/manual steering. Something for everyone. Basically it will cover 500hp to 900+hp
