Been there done this way to many times I would say leave the 318 alone after tossing money at it doing adds and ends it may not perform the way you think it should. Save up your pennies and consider a 5.9 magnum with Fitech or Snipper throttle body EFI you would be amazed

if you look it up that was a truck motor in 86 with a whopping 185 HP of course they were chocked for emissions you have opened it up so it can breath pretty good as these are pretty weak I wouldn't expect much but not any where close to being an expert

I think in the 325 to 350 range got the long nose didn't need it but something about had to get a billet one

no where close to being of great knowledge but go roller from Oregon cams they will help figure out what you need I believe you'll need to know the spring pressure good luck

again most are the better magnum just need to be sure all the balance is correct

quick search and yes looks like everything is based off the magnum I have a good running LA long block that I was going to give away but may change my mind switching to the magnum so I used a lot of parts off the LA
