    Formula S 340 cam specs

True....... But.... WEEEEE WAAAAAANT POOOOWWWWEEERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! I actually get better MPG on the highway with the closer lobes..... But they do stink.

    Formula S 340 cam specs

The only downfall of the OEM cams were the wide lobe center. If you took that cam, and brought it from the stock 114* to 106, it would be a real nice cam, but I'm not sure what the factory widened them for. Idle quality maybe? They are nice to the valvetrain too, the close the valves nice and slow.

    building 273..or not

Seabeas cam is very close to my favorite 273-318 cam from ISKY. 273's love smaller duration, same on both sides cams in the 260* range. I can get you my ISKY specs if you so desire.

    Formula S 340 cam specs

I believe the 340 cam from 68 was the same spec as the RB magnum cam, was it not? If you're buying a new cam, the 268/276 voodoo makes more power across the whole range, idles choppier, and has more snap from the tighter lobe sep. And you can say, nah, it's got the 268 340 cam, I swear. LOL

    Starting an old engine ....

I'm with Moper, except I would mix gas and 2 stroke oil at like an 8:1 ratio, and run it off that. Fill the float bowl with a small funnel or a soda battle with a small hole in the cap vie the bowl vents. Just like a new engine, the best way to start it is QUICK! Then, dont let it idle, keep it...

    heat cross-over passage

A long time ago I filled a crossover with Hi Temp RTV........... LOL, it still is plugged solid. If it has the stock iron manifold, the steel gaskets are made with the crossover blocked. If not, then Fel_pro makes one, or, a piece of tim works too. Either way ya win.

After every cone I have seen exploding, I am scared of them....

I'm confused , was that a cone or clutch sure grip in the cup?

    Boat heads

Considering the LM318 never had a special marine head.... How do we know that the heads wont work? They also never made a LM 318 with adj valves, so there is a possibility they were added, or someone moved up from a 273 block to a 318. reverse rotation motors are easily spotted by the dist drive...

    318 Compression ratio

The beauty of the EFB, EB, and Tquad, it is really isn't "too big"...... Because it only feeds the engine the air it can use. Vacuum secondaries, so to speak, had that argument before, yes, the bottom flies are mechanical, but the weighted/sprung trap door makes them vac operated. You could...

    318 Compression ratio

I guess your right, I just never think about it. But I do have 50 hours into heads before I know it, LOL. Did anyone ask him if he wanted to port a set of heads, or has the equip? It's very satisfying!

    318 Compression ratio

All 318 heads aren't closed chamber, just the 302, and the early early 318LA, and 273 heads..... I never understand the "have as much money porting them as buying..." Comment, as I usually port my heads for less than 50 bucks. If your looking for 300HP, thats pretty mild, and the closed...

    318 Roller Build - Thoughts?

Sounds OK, being a 318 guy, heres what I would change. Performer manifold, Holley street dominator. The Performer RPM is a big port manifold. Use the springs lunati recommends. Thin as hell head gasket, adjustable rockers. (never used a hyd cam and adj rockers, not sure what pushrod you would...

    What Cam should I get?

Not on a 360, it would be (ok) for a car with lower gears. However, the heads will need some work.

    Phantom Knock

A cam knock, whoddathunkit? Glad it was easy. Yeah, TRW's do rattle, I have an old 318 with them in my mud truck, sounds like a damn diesel til it warms up. Of course, the pistons have a gazillion miles on them, and the bore coulda' used .040 pistons instead of .030's. LOL. Glad it idles for...

    What Cam should I get?

Right on the money with the cams. Now, another thought. With the 308 heads, breathing is much better on the EX than the older heads, is the drastically longer EX duration killing the low end anyway? I wonder if the low end results on th two cams are almost identical. (If you could feel the...

    Eb Streetmaster 318 manifold, anygood?

On a 318 with stock heads, in my opinion, the old single plane will outperform the newer dual plane performer. Remember, the highest HP per inch mopar smallblock, the 273, had a single plane, and so did the highest HP 318 A, (1959 I think, with (2) 4BBL's) and the Heavy service truck LA318's...

    The Truth about 318s

No clue, they did have a "premium" 318, special valves, rings, bigger cam, but the compression was lower. All my 318's ran good, run good, and will continue to run good. Even .060 in the hole, they run better than the motors of comparable size, 305/302, that is. The power comparison, for the...

    The Truth about 318s

Yeah, they make taller pistons. From my experience, when you measure deck height, it ends up being too tall in stock form, so cutting the deck is normal when I build a SB. (No intake or valvetrain issues, because the deck was too tall to begin with) Most I have seen, are .050 or so down, not...

    advice: 500hp SB build

In case you haven't noticed, I am not a fan of EB heads..... LOL..... (Just a couple bad experiences) BUt hey, I refuse to use crane rocker arms now too... Yeah, I am picky. I looked everywhere, I will do more research tonight. (There has to be flow charts for them heds somewhere) I cant even...

    advice: 500hp SB build

I'm not sure. I was just drooling on them. I built a 560 inch chev with new brodix heads last week, nice heads, perfect casting. If your wanting to go with stock fit intake, edelbrocks are the way to go. However, there was another munufacture I found, let me go through my history. Me...

    advice: 500hp SB build

You know, something with a 4sp car, and vacuum some don't think about. It might not sound as cool, but you can turn the idle up on a radical motor some and pull more vacuum. (Not tons, buit it helps) I need to get out of truck mode, the reason I don't trust the 4" idea, is because I am running...

    advice: 500hp SB build

Go W heads, 260* roller, and get a real big tranny cooler, IMO. 500HP is a lot for a 360, and I am not sure I trust the stroker to spin the RPM's that you need for 500HP. Or, build a streetable mild (ish) 440........ (Mild compared to the 360)
