    Slant 6 Split exhaust

I did almost exactly what @/sixchall did on my Duster. It's a great runner and sounds awesome.

    TTi Slant six exhaust!

Sorry, didn't know we were talking about early A bodies as there wasn't a mention of years. Someone was just wanting headers that fit.

    TTi Slant six exhaust!

It's a 70 Duster with OEM 2bbl intake. The Hookers come with a plate and a tube that goes from one of the header tubes to the bottom of the intake for heat. I'm running with no choke, it starts and runs just fine. I went from the original 1bbl, factory exhaust and ignition to 2bbl, headers with...

    TTi Slant six exhaust!

What's wrong with the Hooker headers for the slant? Just bought a set last year and had them ceramic coated in ATL. They fit great and sound even better. I got 2.25 pipe all the way back with Dynomax super turbo mufflers.

    Carter BBD questions

I hate it when there's no closure to a thread, let's get some. I haven't messed with the duster lately until this weekend, finally tired of the sputtering. In my original post I said that it felt like a ignition problem, it was. The mechanical advance, what I call the T-plate, was stuck. Problem...

    Carter BBD questions

No, it's not like that. I'm actually thinking more of like @Murray. It seems like when the main jets are needed is when it stats acting up, and the fact that if I lower the metering rods it get worse. I forgot to mention that I drilled the main jets out .005 more, but that didn't make any...

    Carter BBD questions

I have a stock '70 Duster that I just did a 2bbl conversion on. I put a Carter BBD on it, the one with the stamped steel cover over the metering rods. I bought it here as a rebuilt carb. I did take it apart and everything was new, checked the float level and adjusted it. It runs great, idles...

    /6 Hooker Headers...surprise

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Canada, go Maple leafs! I respect the /6 gurus and take their advice, I really do. I live in MACON, GA where I just came in from the shop in a T-SHIRT!!!! Earlier I was sweating cutting the old exhaust off of this Duster! You don't have to live where today's gas boils out of...

    /6 Hooker Headers...surprise

No, probably not, especially in the summer. But I know there are people who swear by them and would not run headers because headers do not have them. I don't know if this is a new thing with the Hooker headers or not, I just know I haven't seen it before. I will get backlash for even mentioning...

    /6 Hooker Headers...surprise

So, I am making the swap to a 2bbl manifold on my '70 Duster with a /6. I had just rescued this car in June, and have gotten it drivable. When I bought the car the exhaust manifold was badly broken, but it came with a good used one so I put it on. The spring for the heat riser broke and was...

    1969 Daily Driver

After you adjust your valves, put HEI on it like mentioned above. I just put it in my duster and now it's a different car. And yes you can turn the wheel and make noise from a stop. Slantsixdan gives directions, follow them and you will not believe what a difference it makes.

    Timing running at 20* advance...

I will, and thanks again for the distributor!

    Timing running at 20* advance...

I stopped looking for total advance at 30*, it went further. At that time, seeing where initial was and where total was going, I stopped to recheck things. And yes it runs good, really good, better than I thought it would. My timing light is good, in fact I put it on my truck just to check, and...

    Timing running at 20* advance...

After much tuning yesterday evening, it is now running at 12* initial. The idle quality isn't as good, but still good (make sense?). I readjusted the carb a couple of times then the timing. With the vacuum advance hooked up, drivability is awesome. So for now if it ain't broke, I'm not fixin'...

    Timing running at 20* advance...

This ^^^is what I thought also, but the timing mark doesn't bounce like it would if the chain was stretched. I'm not concerned at all with the distributor, there's only so much that could be wrong with it, you checked it, I checked it, it's good I believe.

    Timing running at 20* advance...

Here's a little background on the car. 1970 Duster, low mileage (73k), untouched, that has sat for years till this summer. I bought the car in June this year it would start and run with gas being poured in the carb. I have gotten it road worthy. It runs and drives really, really good. In order...

Manifold Heat Control Valve - stuck close

I just had this problem on my duster. The spring broke and the valve was not working. I notice this when I starting smelling gas. It was boiling gas from the carb onto the exhaust manifold. I'm planning other things as far as intake/exhaust, so I drilled a hole in the counterweight and safety...
