Whats a 4 speed fell like

I hate automatics. My daily driver is a 5-speed and my weekend fun car is a 4-speed. Everyone told me it would get old to shift gears constantly...sorry, it still hasn't gotten old.

    passion performance 5 speed

I can see your point but I have both a 727 car and an A833 car. If I want to go on a cruise I almost always take the 4-speed car. They are just more fun on the street, in my opinion at least.

    4 Speed Swap

The nickle and dime stuff is a killer. We got great deals on some parts though. The heavy duty clutch and flywheel were the most expensive parts for our swap...we didn't change the carpet as the auto carpet still fit over the floor hump.

    4-Speed reverse indicator light location?

The light on the dash. I know where they are located on B/E bodies but what about A-bodies? I've got one I want to mount in the Dart. Thanks!

    What's It Worth? - A-Body 4spd

$100 for mine last year at a Chevy swap meet. lol...it's not the transmission itself that was expensive, it was the sum of all the other parts needed....clutch/pressure plate, Brewers rebuild kit for $200, Z-bar rebuild kit, pedals, etc.

    What trans should I run?

If you are gonna race it a lot the auto is the way to go. You can always collect parts for a 4-speed conversion as you find them, that's what we did. :)

    What trans should I run?

Make the switch! I LOVE the four-speed in my Dart. I think the price is high for the transmission. I know I'm gonna get blasted for this but I only paid $100 for an A833 last year at a swap, and it came with a bellhousing, shifter, & rods. YES I KNOW IT'S NOT THE NORM (before the forum police...

Where did you get your 4-spd shifter boot?

Thanks guys, I went to three different junkyards in the area and couldn't find a thing. The ones that had the older trucks/vans were either all automatics or someone else had cleaned all the 4-speed stuff off them. :angry7: I'll try the wanted ads on here next!

Where did you get your 4-spd shifter boot?

Sorry Wylde1, I didn't notice your question. It's non-console. Hmmmmm, I like that 70's van idea, I want to hit a big junkyard next week anyway, so I will try that first. If that fails I will do a wanted ad. You guys rock8)

Where did you get your 4-spd shifter boot?

One of the online stores has them for $60, but I have a hard time justifying $60 for a piece of rubber. Where did you get yours? I'll pay it if I have to but come on....:angry7:

    4-speed shifter question......

We are in the process of converting our '76 Dart to a four speed. This is the first 4-speed conversion we've done, so I am wondering.... We have a bayonet style A-body shifter and need to get the clip and rubber isolator. Is there a reason we couldn't just slide the handle into the shifter...
