    I CAN’T DRIVE 145mph

I have a 2011 Ram and used the Diablo tuner on it and it has the option to turn the speed governor up to a higher speed. Been 2 yrs. since I did it so I don't know what the max was but I'm sure it was at least 145 as that's what I turned mine up to. I'm surprised you can only run 130 with that...

    Purple Vs Lunati Voodoo

Yep. Ran it then switched to a Lunati 60404 and the car ran considerably better than the Chevy grind comp cam. That was in a 360 with 4.10 gears. Your 3.23's won't work good with it IMO. Not sure why you jumped in asking about one cam then all of a sudden your "going" with a completely different...

    Purple Vs Lunati Voodoo

No it's not too much on the street but if you go with the 60403 go with a 3000 converter. That cam is a little big for a 2500 stall IMO...

Or fashion a set of V-blocks for it to set in and bolt a 360 degree timing wheel directly to it and divide the readings by 2.

    Comp cams degreeing issue

I too have ran into timing sets that were all over the place (even name brand sets), that's why I always check them. When Comp calls for it to be installed at 106 ICL it is actually advanced 4* because it's ground on a 110* lobe center. 110*, advance it 4* and it's at 106*

    Custom ground camshaft, low power

As for oil in the radiator, does your radiator have an auto trans. cooler built in? I've seen them leak causing that far more than an engine problem. I don't believe leaking head gaskets would put oil in the radiator as there is only the one oil port going up through the block to the rocker arms...

3000 stall convertor and 2800 highway cruising

I've only rebuilt a O.D. trans. once but I don't remember the O.D. unit being much over 20 lbs. Can't imagine the GV unit being much lighter.

3000 stall convertor and 2800 highway cruising

That mileage isn't out of line with your combo. I have the next step smaller cam in mine but everything else is nearly identical to yours and it only gets about 1 to 1.5 MPG more than yours.
  17. fishy68

3000 stall convertor and 2800 highway cruising

No. It'll be fine. I run a PTC that flashes to 3200 and 3:55 gears that cruise at 2700 @ 60. No problem at all. Just make sure to run a good auxiliary cooler cause when you stomp on it the slipping effect (flash) builds heat.

    oil crossover-valve cover

I don't think so because it works off of vacuum created by the hot exhaust going high speed out of the headers. Lets say you have the absolute best exhaust system in the world and the back pressure is only .1 psi. (nearly impossible). That's still pressure which is the opposite of vacuum. The...

    oil crossover-valve cover

Moper's right, it's a breather system. I don't know if road race cars are setup the same as drag cars but on drag cars you have the valve cover breathers plumbed into a one way valve located in the header that creates a vacuum to suck the vapors out. You have to have open headers for it to work...

Porting - before or after valve job?

If you can, ask them to do the cut for the larger valves, take the heads home and do the porting then have the valve job done. I can guarantee if you do the valve job before porting you'll nick a seat (or 2 or 3) and have to have it/them re-done.

    360 with 450hp

I've seen cases where the 284/484 cam worked good and other cases where it didn't. It's all in the combo. For your question, shouldn't you just start a new thread since it has nothing to do with this one? Get's real confusing when there is more than one question. When a guy answers how do you...

Thanks for your service Roger. It's much appreciated. And your doing good for being new on the puter. We asked for pics cause it makes things so much easier to understand.

Does my 451 have to small of a cam?

Sounds like your timing chain is the type with advance and retard options. They may have installed it advanced or retarded. Hard to guess which since I don't have the timing set to look at. If you could post a picture of it maybe we can tell more. If the spacer holes were smaller than the carb...

Does my 451 have to small of a cam?

That cam sounds like an old school grind. 308 degrees of duration with only .475 lift. Definetly needs a lot more stall with that much duration. Any idea what the compression ratio is supposed to be? Do the tests mentioned and report back. That'll tell us more.

    Very high temp paint???

I used it (applied it just as the directions said) on my headers but didn't have a way to cure it (no oven). I thought maybe I could install the headers and fire it up for a little at a time keeping an eye on the temp with a digital temp gun making sure to not go over 300 degrees. Problem was it...

What do you think of this plug?

NGK's pricey?? They cost the same as Autolite's at my local NAPA. About a $1.50 each. I'm talking about the NGK V-power plugs. Not anything fancy.

What do you think of this plug?

Hummm. Got some news for you. I put Bosch Platinum plugs in my 02 Dakota 4.7 and it runs better, and gets a little better fuel mileage. That is compared to the stock Champion plugs it had in it that had less than 30,000 miles on them. I only tried them cause I got the Bosch plugs for next to...
