Seeking wisdom from those who have installed a lift

I have seen pictures of both types that failed. Buying the best quality that you can afford is a start. On a 2 post, you can use a tall stand to give extra safety. Also, I have one piece uprights on my lift. I think it makes it just a little safer. Cost hasn't been discussed, but you don't want...

Seeking wisdom from those who have installed a lift

This is my concern. I have too many cars, and not enough garage. Also, I would have to change to rollup doors.

1/2-20 Time-sert sleeve for oil pan drain ?

I do the welded nut thing alot on TF trans, so I can drain the trans without getting a face full. If you go this route, the pan needs to be removed, and the nut welded on the outside of the pan. That way, the nut won't keep that small amount of oil in the bottom of the pan. I would tig weld...

Seeking wisdom from those who have installed a lift

Yup, the residential garage doors have that problem, unless you want to get roll up doors.

Seeking wisdom from those who have installed a lift

A two post lift also takes up less floor space than a four post. Great for smaller shops.

Seeking wisdom from those who have installed a lift

I have a Bend Pak 10k 2 post lift. 2 things I reccomend. First, get a clear floor model. You don't want the cable cover on the floor making it a b*tch trying to push a disabled vehicle over it. Second, get àn asymmetrical lift. This clocks the main posts so its easier to get in/out of the...

    Harbor freight 25% off coupon

I have been getting these coupons, but my gripe is that when I look at past ads, or think about what I paid, and the prices are 1/3 higher, I just don't get excited anymore.

    Vintage Alignment Systems

After two failed alignment jobs at shops, I tried my hand at doing it. One thing I learned was that every time I jacked the car up to put it on the turn plates, it screwed up the adjustment. I made low ramps for front, and rear tires. I got toe plates from Summit, and a Longacre alignment kit...

    2 Post Lift Suggestions

I have a Bend Pak 10k. Works great. Get a clear floor, and asymmetrical arms. Makes it easier to open the doors.

4 post lift vs. 2 post lift. Pros and Cons.

The 2 post takes a little effort to set the lift arms. But it has a much smaller footprint than a 4 post. Think about every time you need to walk across the shop. You have to walk around the 4post, especially if there's a car on it. A 2 post doesn't have a cross beam up front like the 4 post...

    2 Post lift location question....

I like the idea of pulling your longest vehicle in where you want it, and place the lift right at your front door of your vehicle. Also, make sure it's far enough from the side wall, so you can pull straight in, and walk around the lift. I like a little room in back, to walk around. Also, if...

Faulty Sprayer Bottles--Frustration Enough to Pull My Hair Out

I just use any empty spray bottle that I have around the house. When they fail, I get another one. I have spent money on spray bottles new, but they seem to fail too. I also use empty weed killer jugs with the battery powered sprayer. When it dies, I get another one new, and use that one till...

    Hand Rivet Guns

This is the one I have. Has worked well so far, although I don't use rivets frequently. Malco products are for doing duct work. Not sure if their products are up to thicker gauge steel.

    Buffer/Polisher Recommendations

As someone who has done a lot of polishing, Be very aware how you hold your part to the buffing wheel. It will grab the part, and fling it across the shop. It can also mangle a trim piece the second you aren't focused. Sorry I don't know about that buffer.

    4 post lift?

Don't even think about putting one lift on top of another. That's a bad accident waiting to happen. If you want a 4 post, and you have the room( they eat up a lot of floor space) use the correct jacking plates that you can buy with your lift.

How to move and transport an 80 gallon compressor?

Listen to what these guys say about top heavy. I listened to someone else who said I should be able to walk it off the pallet. Well, that top heavy ***** went right over on me, and pinned me against the wall. Took some creative thinking to get that thing off of me. Take the motor, and pump...

    band saws

If i just want straight simple cuts, for large items, I use a chop saw. Smaller, i also use a right angle with a large cut off wheel. Smaller, and a die grinder with a cutoff wheel. I have a sawsall, but once it starts cutting, it can go off the mark fast. I worked in a dragster fab shop for...

Just don't buy the Phillips LED replacements for florescent. They were no brighter, and one failed already.

    Mueller metal buildings

I think the lifts require 6 inches of concrete if it's a 2 post. Also check with your post manufacturer for ceiling height. Then allow a little more.

Considering adding a lift - thoughts on 2-post vs. 4-post?

I have a Bendpak 10,000 lb 2 post lift with a clear floor, and asymmetrical arms to open the doors. While you do have to set the arms on a 2 post, I like it better in every respect. A 4 post is always there, taking up that bay. A 2 post can move the unused arms out of the way. 4 post has the...

    Cabinet/Shelving Ideas

You could run horizontal 2x4 from stud to stud. Then mount used kitchen cabinets to that. I mounted mine high enough that.I won'thit my head on them. I use a small step stool. The cabinets over the work bench are not as high, since the bench keeps me far enough away,so I don't hit my head. These...

    Picked up an atomizer....

I'm not expert, but 200 psi seems dangerous. I would try lower pressures, increasing until it performed the way you like.
