If you want a color on the letters, then get a small paint roller with the shortest nap you can find. Paint intake, then roll the contrasting color on the letters.

Paint the whole intake, and then sand the tops of the letters.

Simple test for a vacuum leak is to cover the carburetor with a rag. If it smoothes out, you have a leak. If it slows down, or stalls, it's not that.

If the power valve is bad, you'll know it. I had one go bad, and the engine spit, and sputtered, and wouldn't idle., so I would think that yours is ok.

Easiest test, is to put your hand over the carb, and see if it has any effect. If so, check for vacuum leaks. Carb cleaner should help. Also, make sure you set the timing before making any carb changes. If all that checked out, turn the mixture screws in until the engine slows down, then back...

I have the Carter pump that requires a regulator. It's quiet when the engine is running. Well it's makes the same amount of noise all the time. Just can't hear it when the engine is running. I also wired mine through an inertia switch, and an oil pressure switch. Alot of work, but much safer.

On older Holleys, some times they warp. You need to check the main body with a straight edge,and check the metering plate too.

If the electric fuel pump is mounted high, you will still have the same issue. You could leave the fuel lines attached, and unbolt the pump from the mounts, so it hangs down some, and try it again.

Hard to tell, since I'm on my cell phone, but it looks like you need the Mopar throttle lever adapter. Summit has them. It gives the correct pivot point for your pedal. The part number is 1481.
