    2bbl to 4bbl conversion?

Gonna look at this a lot closer and study the answer To add to this These carter Bbd 285s The high tops are different than the low tops. The high top have edelbrock jets that can go in there. So I have a large choice on jetting. Don't get the low tops. The distributor on there now is a gm...

    2bbl to 4bbl conversion?

Thank you aj All that makes a lot of sense. Definitely not in a hurry o get it back on. Working on it slowly I want to get the engine finely tuned and then start messing with the dual carb set up so I'm not chasing my tail I'm running 2.76 gears and a stock converter so it might be pretty...

    2bbl to 4bbl conversion?

There’s really no reason to run two carters. Rochester’s are much better. But I had the adapter and the carbs sitting around and decided why not see what happens. So I hit McMaster and bought some hardware and it was done What do you think about sealing up most of it and leaving the transfers...

    2bbl to 4bbl conversion?

The reason I’m asking.....is if you look at my picture. I ran double 2 barrel Carter BBD carbs back to back. Both are the 285 cfm carbs. Now I’m running a 600. I took them off due to a stripped fuel inlet that was leaking. When I saw the conversion I was trying to figure out if I was running...

    2bbl to 4bbl conversion?

ive got a Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel on my engine. The 2 barrel that originally came on the engine was a Carter BBD 285 cfm. The conversion formula is cfm x 1.414 Does this mean that my 285 is actually a 403 cfm carburetor?

Ive been running this for a while now with the dual 2 bbl and it feels the same as a stock intake with lower low end....So far it does what i wanted it to do...looks different. I was never looking for performance gains. I was just bored with the status quo....performer + 600. Performer is a...

i dont have an intake manifold yet. I am getting information and opinions from people who run 318 engines. i just want to make sure that when i put 2x2 on there it will run ok. i am not really looking for performance gain at all. I want to cruise and go on road trips. i also want something sort...

will i have any vacuum issues with the performer......i was thinking the same thing and the guy who helped me with the set up design told me to only use it only if i upgrade the cam and heads. i know the performer is a better intake manifold.....the reason they stopped making them is that they...

thoughts on the edelbrock sp2p manifold

it's about the looks over performance....not much kick to the 318...i was told the performer doesn't pull enough vacuum. if i bumped up the cam to a stock 340 cam and ran some 360 heads that flow more i could go with the performer and may do so in the future.....but this old vintage intake is a...

planning on running a (580 cfm total) dual 2 bbl set up. this will need a strong vacuum signal to work well and from what my buddy says...i should run the sp2p manifold . he says i will get better mileage, more low end torque, and will have a power band from idle to 4000 rpm. i cruise it and...

    1973 318 2 barrel Carb

my 68 318 came with a carter bbd....my 76 318 came with a 2280. there are pics in my recent threads about carburetor choice for the 318 and pics of some carter bbd's on bolted down. you can get them dirt cheap and either will work. the holley has to have a tall carb gasket . the carter does...

    Carter BBD confusion

in thinking about this. a carburetor that stayed closed and would not relax open would have the same problem. you would be pressing on the gas pedal and it would fall to the floor. you would turn off the car or pull the pedal back with you foot if you could. only time it would ever be a problem...

    Carter BBD confusion

I had the holley 2280 2 barrel on my 318. Started leaking around the throttle shafts. i decided to replace it with the carter bbd low top. Funny thing i noticed about this carburetor is that the fuel pump diaphragm has a spring on the top and the bottom. so when i got the carburetor the...
