Is this enough space on my rear wheels? 18” wheels

Just talked to Forgeline and since I will be changing both halves they can send me the two sealed replacement shells. It's as simple as unbolting the face and making sure it's cleaned of the old sealant and prepped with alcohol, mating the three pieces, and torquing the hardware in sequence.

Is this enough space on my rear wheels? 18” wheels

I mounted up the 18x10 +6 last night. T his is on a stock spring location 8.25 w/drum brakes and a 3/8” spacer on each side. This equals 52.25 spacer to spacer. An A-body 8.75 is 52.625”. I’ll still need the spacer or cut my B-body housing to a 53 - 53.25” flange to flange. The back lip touches...

    18's with 275s on a Duster

Yep, just wanted to make sure. I measured from the lip of the inside rim to the WMS . I get 4.5" BS on the 18x9. I have the same 14" brake kit that 72Blu has so I can just copy his spec. I might just take it to a wheel specialist and have them configure them to that offset. I would like to...

What kit are you using? Do you know how much they move the WMS out?

    So this is 18x9 -12 and 18x10 -6?

    18's with 275s on a Duster

Stock or mostly stock never appealed to me much. My Duster was someone else’s project and he started going down that road so I finished it like he would’ve (maybe out of respect?). Now, I will keep it numbers matching and keep the brakes and the Rallye wheels in the shed.

    18's with 275s on a Duster

Maybe?!?! Hehe. For the last month, putting the first 1500 miles on it was fun. This is a very nice car for someone who wants a car that represents a good numbers matching car. That’s not my style. I like to make a car in my own vision. I had been having a desire to get a different car to put...

    18's with 275s on a Duster

Correction: The 18x10 backspace is 5.75” backspace. I measured with the wheel n a different position so I could see the tape better. The lengths I’m willing to go on this semi-freshly painted car is: Roll fenders, lengthen fender support rods, and cut the pie cut like @Craig Burriss . I have...

    18's with 275s on a Duster

We’ll, here goes. Instead of starting a new thread I will tag onto this one in hopes that @Scat will show back up. His wheels are close to what I’m thinking about doing. I have a set of Forgeline 18x9 and 18x10’s. I have measured the backspace with a straight edge on the rim measuring to the...

What happened to @Scat ? This thread was really informative for me and it would be nice to see how his Duster turned out.

    Opinions on new wheel color

I vote to leave the yellow. I think it looks great. If you are undecided just buy a can of that peelable spray paint in black. If it doesn’t look right to you just peel it off. If it looks good to you paint or powder coat them permanently.

    Aftermarket wheels...how safe are they??

Watch out with the cast aluminum wheels. Especially spoked versions.

    Front tire size?

If I'm not mistaken a 15x6.5 was a B-body wheel. Should be able to run a 225/60-15 but they only come in BFG. If you want another brand you will have to do a 215/60-15

The cost of wheels and tires.

I really wanted Keystone’s for this Day Two build. Seems like they just make a few offsets. None of them are that great for front wheels on A-bodies. For your lug nuts, measure the shank length. You should be able to find an alternative. Are they the ones with the oval washers?

The cost of wheels and tires.

I know, I know. Wish I didn’t have to buy them but they are the only company that makes a 225/60. If I determine that a 235/60 can fit or if I lengthen the lower fender braces and push the fender out I will go with Cooper Cobra’s next. My goal was to get 235’s and 275’s but decided to err on the...

The cost of wheels and tires.

Hey folks, Just want to relay to you the pulse of the market in regards to Rallye wheels and the tires that fit them. I just bought, 2 wheels (purchased the other two last year), 4 BF Goodrich tires (225/60r15 and 255/60r15), beauty rings, center caps, and lug nuts. $1967.50 If I wasn't...

Blu said his fresh paint was alright after pushing his out so that gives me a bit of an easier feeling.

    235/60/15 on front of duster?

Good to know. Thanks for the info. Should I go straight for the 235’s with the 15x7 with 4.5” bs? That way I could still go with the Cooper tire.

    235/60/15 on front of duster?

There are fender to bumper braces. I definitely want too play it safe with paint. I prefer Cooper Cobras but they don't come in 225, just 215 and 235. I may have to pay the premium for BFG's just to get that fitment.

The 225/60-15 doesn't show up in a Cooper, just BF Goody. For Cooper it's 235 and 215.

Thread resurrection time! I am just going to tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one because my question is very close to the OP's, however, I am wanting to run a US Wheel 15X7 Rallye with a 4.5" bs. This is on a OEM front suspension 73 Duster with discs. 340 torsion bars, OEM sway...

Nice looking 18s on this '73 Sport

I always ask myself, how much do these cost and how much would it cost to replace them with the right part. TTi or D453's don't seem like such a ball breaker then.

    Roller wheels - wilwood

I bought some Cragar Soft 8's and cheap tires from SUmmit when I had this problem. I was able to sell the wheels later. Now I wish I would have kept them. If you buy mustang spares or something you may not be able to sell them. At least if you get a wheel, like the Soft 8, that appeals to truck...

    15x10 fitment on non-tubbed Duster

Yep. From "An accurate 8 3/4" rear axle width list" thread The 8-1/4" is about 1" more narrow than the 8-3/4". My newly acquired 15x10 (4" backspace) wheels fit satisfactorily with a spring relocation and wheel opening trimming. Would probably not work with stock spring location and...
