    Doug's Headers in 64-66 A-Body

I have 1.14 bars, so about as big as you can get. I did have to give the end of the bars a couple of taps with a dead blow hammer to get the hex through the two header pipes. Its a bit snug going through but not to the point that you have to hit it hard at all. Keep in mind I use the stock...

    Doug's Headers in 64-66 A-Body

I think it can only help dropping it down. Would it help to shift it a bit from one side to the other. What heads are on it? If the exhaust flange face on the heads is on a different than stock angle that could move things side to side a bit, probably not up and down much.

    Doug's Headers in 64-66 A-Body

I use the stock style mounts, not the Schumacher ones. I have heard of the problem you are having when installed with the Schumacher mounts. I have a turnbuckle tie down from the left side motor mount to block bolt to the cross member and have a bit of preload on it. This is important as you see...

    Muffler question- flowmaster vs. ?

I do, I'm told they sound a lot different than most other mufflers out there, I'm never behind it. They are well built, I've run them for about 20 years, still look like new.

    340 in a 65 Dart, TTI HEADERS, H exhaust

I originally used a modified stock bracket but it wasn't smooth with the 833 and made a bit of noise from the cross shaft bushings when depressing the clutch. When I upgraded to the Passon 855 and McLeod 10.95 diaphragm clutch I purchased a kit from Brewers that is specific to adding the 10.5...

    340 in a 65 Dart, TTI HEADERS, H exhaust

I'm using a 10.95 clutch in a 10.5 bell housing. The Doug's I have fit awesome , I have no complaints about them.

    340 in a 65 Dart, TTI HEADERS, H exhaust

No Problem, these are Dougs in a 1966 Barracuda, exactly the same as any 1965 abody. The steering box in the picture is the smaller Borgeson box but the stock box was in the car for 15 years before that box and no fitment issues with that at all. The finish on these is almost 20 years old, they...

    340 in a 65 Dart, TTI HEADERS, H exhaust

Contrary to what many people will tell you under chassis headers in and early a body is not that hard. I have used the Dougs headers and with a bit of patience they can be installed without any problems. My applications have been in 4 speed cars with power steering with no fitment issues at all...

    Doug Thorely Headers

I got a set of Dougs about 16 years ago when he did the limited run of 50 Cosgig mentioned, Doug told me I got the last set of that run. They fit like a glove with power steering and a 4 speed and look as good today as the day I put them on, no rust no leaks, worth every cent!

    Mufflers Without a Drone

Borla XR1's for me too, great sound and built to last and no drone.

Why are my dougs 450 headers hitting EVERYTHING on my early a

I have had these headers in a 66 Cuda for about 15 years, they fit like a glove, I have had them in and out a bunch of times for cleaning and engine and trans change outs, never had a problem with fitment. I run stock 66 mounts with motor tied down, run a Borgesen power steering box now, have...

    Picking an Exhaust and Mufflers

I run the Borla XR-1s, 2.5" with full exhaust out the back no drone in the car and they sound great so I'm told.

    Doug's Headers in 64-66 A-Body

One thing you guys will have to do that I forgot to mention is notch the passenger side of the trans cross member just downstream of the collector, this is not a big deal but needs to be done to enable the exhaust to come straight off the collector. If I have time tomorrow I will send you some...

    Doug's Headers in 64-66 A-Body

Have them in my 66 Cuda with power steering, 4 speed and a 10.5" clutch and the fit like a glove. I have the motor tied down to keep things where they belong, the torsion bar on the left side goes through the tubes, a snug fit depending on size of your bars, lots of ground clearance as they go...
