Ran 100 octane for the first time. Wow

Back in the '80's, driving back from the Keys near the Everglades I was on "E" I noticed a pump with 100 octane, people used it in the air boats, I asked the guy if people ever used it in cars...so I filled up my '64 Fury and cruised at 120 across Alligator Alley. Maybe it was my imagination but...

Fixing up a kinda rusty gas tank

In new tanks, I believe there are only two options, those made by Spectra in Canada, very good quality....and those made in Taiwan. I know which one I chose and it was still very reasonable, and worth every penny.

    Diagnosing Carter 2bbl ('67 383)

My friend told me they are prone to becoming warped (?) from people tightening the air cleaner wing nut too tight. Anyway one thing at a time, in a few days we'll see what difference a new brake booster makes. Thanks again everyone for your help.

    Diagnosing Carter 2bbl ('67 383)

Just an update my brake booster is bad (I shoulda made SURE about this before) so when the new one gets here in a few days I will be doing the work myself, never done one, wish me luck. We'll see how the car runs then!

    Diagnosing Carter 2bbl ('67 383)

Thank you very very much guys, this is what I was after. Just to clarify, the carb was rebuilt a few hundred miles ago by the previous owner. The vacuum guage doesn't fluctuate at idle.

    Diagnosing Carter 2bbl ('67 383)

My '67 Monaco...c-body of course but FABO has the best techs. Engine has a miss at idle and at low rpm's....for example cruising through a parking lot. Once the car is underway it runs nice, it has good acceleration, it starts up instantly and never stalls. I have checked/done the following and...

    Gas tank rant / frustration

Just thinking out loud here...are all a-body tanks the same? Maybe that tank isn't correct for your Valiant? The one I got from Tamraz fit well.

    1965 Carter 2BRL Carb

When I needed a new carb for my '65 273 I just kept checking ebay, it took a while but finally I found a Holley Economizer which is a replacement carb, car runs great, took very little adjusting. I'm no tech but this is my carb replacement story for what it's worth.

    Spectra or quanta??? Help!!

C'mon, if you ask a question at midnight on a Saturday, it might take more than a day for someone who can answer your particular question about gas tanks to see it and respond, don't you think? I got a Spectra tank from Vans but it's been awhile, sorry, I don't remember any info I thought...

    Weber DGV carbs YOUR Opinions??

I don't have tech knowledge about them but I do remember clearly back in the '70's z-owners ditched the SU's for Webers, it was a very popular upgrade.

I bought my gas tank from them and I'm happy, they shipped fast. Replacement gas tanks aren't as expensive as they used to be, thankfully.

    Remanufactured carbs any good?

I found a company called CarParts that has an Ebay store, they sell directly as well. They have remanufactured Holley carbs that replace the Carter bbd for the 273. They have good feedback, a 30-day return policy, and the price is $169 which sounds fair to me. Sorry I don't know how to post a...

Well, there is about 8 gallons of gasoline on my driveway this morning (66 Valiant)

It's rather unnerving so walk out and see your car surrounded by a pool of gasoline. Happened to me too, in a parking garage. Tamraz on ebay sells new tanks, just over $200 delivered, well worth it for peace of mind...if you patch the old one it's only a matter of time before it leaks again...
