Need a good honest shop for my Dart

I assume you do not have an agreed value insurance policy. It is the responsibility of HER insurance company to put your car back to the way it was. All insurance companies are required to file with the State Insurance Commission. The insurance commission has rules on what the insurance...

    Steering wheel puller

Like @69FBCuda said, go to a car parts store like O'Reilly's or Advance Auto and ask to borrow one. They will ask for a deposit, but you get it back when you return the tool. If you want to own one, you can get them for under $20 at Amazon or Harbour Freight. I have a cheap HF one that has been...

Seeking advice on applying clear powder coat

Everybody is a beginner at some time. About 20 years ago, I bought a $99 Eastwood powder coating gun, and the rest is history. I have never used the Cerakote, but I know a professional powder coater who uses it all the time. Let me suggest one thing. It is rather labor intensive and will take a...

    millarmatic 250 with spoolgun .

Please don't take this wrong, but I'm not sure I understand. I assume you bought a Millermatic 250 because you wanted a high quality welder. And you certainly got one. Like I said, I love my Millermatic. If you bought a Millermatic for its quality, wouldn't it make sense to buy a Miller spool...

    millarmatic 250 with spoolgun .

I have the Millermatic 220. I love it. Call Miller. They can help you in seconds. I assume you will want to buy Miller anyway.

I have the Aircat body saw and a die grinder. Both work flawlessly.

    Screwdrivers

I have some older Craftsman tools that were made in the USA, but pretty much anything I have bought in the last 20 years was probably made in China. I have a lot of Dewalt cordless tools. I don't know where they are made. I have never broken a Craftsman tool or, for that matter, a HF hand tool...

    Best (INDOOR ONLY) car cover?

If I had the space, I would get one of those clear blow-up bubble things with a fan to keep it inflated.

    Best (INDOOR ONLY) car cover?

Calcarcover is probably great. However, I bought a custom fit Covercraft made for indoors for my 69 Barracuda Fastback, and it is awesome. Almost no dust gets through it. It is specifically made for inside/dust control. You should consider one!

    CAR COVERS ?

I don't like to hit the red X. But I do disagree with the statement that "you really cannot keep a car cover on a car stored outside year-round". I have been covering cars outside for years. I never had a problem with paint or anything else. The All Weather cover protected them nicely. I only...

    CAR COVERS ?

I have a 69 Barracuda FB that is always garage kept. I also wanted a cover strictly to protect it from dust while in the garage. After a lot of research, I went with a Covercraft cover. They have one that is made specifically for dust protection. It is not one of those super lightweight...

    welder/welding

True. I use 30 wire. It works fine on sheet metal, and it is also good thicker stuff. I have welded fabbed motor mounts and major suspension pieces with it.

    welder/welding

I will totally agree with the fact that the newer Millermatic welders with auto settings are awesome. I have one, and it works very well. That being said, you don't need automatic settings. My first welder was a Hobart Handler 135. It had manual settings. It took very little time to get used to...

That is what SCUBA divers do to the inside of their masks.

    Dammitt RaY , again !!

I have had USAA insurance for 50 years. They used to be way cheaper than all other companies, but now they are about the same. They have amazing service. About 11 years ago, we bought an RV. USAA does not insure RVs, but they have a deal worked out with Progressive, so we went with them. I have...

    Fab room ceiling height?

IMHO, 8 would work, but 9 would be better.

    What are you welding with?

Millermatic 211 here. I LOVE the automatic settings. However, if you are looking to also do stich and TIG, this machine won't do that.

    Drill press

I do not know the quality of drill press you need, but I can tell you that I bought a drill press at Habor Freight about 15 years ago, and it has worked flawlessly for me. I would HIGHLY recommend it.

    Redneck garage heater

You say the garage is not insulated? I would definitely rip out all the sheetrock and put in insulation. If there is a way to insulate the ceiling, do that to. My garage is fully insulated, and a small 240V wall mounted heater works well.

Any Recommendations on a 1/2" Digital Torque Wrench?

I have a good click style torque wrench, but I like the idea of the digital ones. There seems to be a WIDE range of prices, and reviews are all over the place. Does anybody here have one they like (at a reasonable price)?

Standard (Inches) to metric (mm) conversion table

I know most of us are at least somewhat familiar to the standard to metric tool conversions. For example, we all know that a 1/2" wrench is pretty much the same as a 13mm one. Every once in a while, I'll come across a nut or bolt head that is in between two standard sockets. Sometimes I wound up...

    Sandblasting talk

I TOTALLY agree. I bought a TP Tools Scat Blast cabinet about 15 years ago. It has worked flawlessly. I have tried out some homemade cabinets, and they did not work all that great. Now I am NOT saying that some of my FABO buddies could not make a cracker jack cabinet, but if you can afford it, I...

Got to love those new tool boxes

I must admit that I am truly confused about such high prices. I totally understand that quality costs money, and I do NOT want to upset or offend people who sell or own MAC, Cornwell or Snapon tools and cabinets, but for that much money, you could buy a very nice cabinet as big or bigger and...

    Mr. Fixit.....

I had a powder coating customer who bought a rusty 70 (I think) Toyota Land Cruiser. I did floor pans for him, and he asked if I could save his doors and fenders. They were really bad. I said I could but it wouldn't be cheap. The more I dug in, the worse it got. Here are just a few pictures. I...
