I see guys ask about offset and tire size all the time, this is what I use. It's from Rims&Tires.com (some tire sizes may noy actually exist) http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Easiest way is with a staight edge and a tape measure put the straight edge on the hub face and measure to spring and then to fender. You can figure out your offset or backspace that way too depending on your rim choice.

So ya, a 215 is 8.5"...

Probably a 7" - 8.5" MAX, most tires will say their min/max rim widths.

No turning issues, but I cant go much taller/wider than 215/40 in the front without rubbing the front of the fender. A 45 may work but my driver side fender is pushed back slightly. I would like a wider rear and could fit a 255/45 but not on the 7'', so I guess 245 it is. 245 is still pushing it...
