Street Outlaws. Are you guys into it

You guys realize there are several different versions of the show, right? lol. Being from Oklahoma I watch the original occasionally. I've seen a couple of the cars in person. Pretty impressive. I agree though, that the drama is totally ridiculous despite the cars being pretty legit.

    Who makes purple torque converters?

Got a nice 727 with this converter yesterday. My buddy who gave it to me has no info on it. It has a 10 stamped on the ring gear, "ALE" on one side and "140" on the other. It is brand new and looks to be well made. Painted this weird purple color. The trans was behind a 600 hp 440. That's...

Definitely DOWN in the hole. We talked about true zero deck and agreed not to do that.(thankfully). A rare moment of foresight.

    High compression blues.

Well, it isn't pinging anymore, so, no, I am not going to pull a head off. As far as how far down in the hole, the machinist said the deck had not been cut as far as he could tell and that he only surfaced the deck. "Probably less than ten thousandths" to quote him. And from what I've learned...

It's still fairly close, Jpar. I did advance the timing a litttle when driving it the other day and I could get it to ping. A much lighter ping, granted but it's close. It likes it at 16 initial. Runs hard. Should have mentioned that earlier.

Now that I've got the point of detonation figured out, it seems like the .557 cam would better utilize all that cylinder pressure, don't you think, Rusty? It's not too much smaller than the solid cam that was recommended by Tim at Bullet.

Something about an all steel car with full interior, full exhaust, street tires, all motor, DRIVEN to the track running mid elevens that gets me goin.....:thumbsup:

I think the .557 cam will get me pretty close to my 11.50 goal.....

    High compression blues.

And thanks Rusty, I did read that the cheap box would retard the timing at high rpm but the disparity between the two was pretty severe. I couldn't get the revnator to not ping at high rpm with experimenting with the timing all over the place. AND, I haven't drank in 6.5 years and have to...

    High compression blues.

And, I am happy to report that I have finally gotten rid of the ping!! Not sure which it is yet, but it's either a distributor or a revnator ignition box. Or combo of both? Havent had time to experiment but I changed the box for a ten dollar auto zone ecu and put my old firecore distributor...

Anytime it's at high rpm. Tim at Bullet explained this as the lack of duration with my high compression.

    High compression blues.

I briefly spoke with Jim at racer brown. super nice guy. He didn't really want to get into grinds until I knew how deep in the hole the pistons are. I talked to the machine shop today and found out that the deck was only surfaced, not cut so I'll probably call him back tomorrow. Also, my...

I think I had the cam before the heads. It wasn't bullets fault. It was mine.
