Steve Magnante has been MIA for awhile....here is why:

One of Steve's friends has made an appeal to us fellow car enthusiasts to help Steve by clicking on and watching his Youtube videos. That's his source of income. I don't mind because I already enjoy watching his Junkyard Crawl. Hospital bills must be $$$$$$$$$ by now.

    Honestly...how good was the 318...mpg / durability / hp

I don't know about all the engines back then. Classmate in high school had a low mileage beauty of a '67 LeMans convertible. V8(His dad's actually). Jumped timing. Another a '72 Buick Skylark, V8. One day, cranked and ran 5 seconds, quit. Sheared all the nylon gear teeth. Many of the big block...

    Honestly...how good was the 318...mpg / durability / hp

Speaking of timing sets. I never touched the one in my 318. Certain that it was original. I was the 3rd owner in 1980 and I could tell no one had the timing cover off. I kept looking at the ignition timing through the years, to see if it got jumpy from wear. Never did. 225K, ran smooth, idled...

    Honestly...how good was the 318...mpg / durability / hp

way back, had a 318 2bbl '70 Barracuda. 114k miles when I got it. 17 degrees F , fired off with about 3 seconds of cranking. 95 deg. F, same thing. Hot start- no problem. Had it in shop class. Idle in 90 deg+ weather for 30 minutes or more. Never got to the 50% mark on the coolant gauge. Never...

Some guy nearby me, bought a one family owned '68 Charger with a 318. 88K miles on the odo, owner said it was original miles. Really pretty car, inside and out. 100% stock. Still had the iron exhaust manifolds when purchased. Guy put a 5.7 hemi in it. My brother bought the 318 and even got the...

    Another WTF craigslist ad.

I don't know why they put $1 in car ad. I ought to go up to someone with an ad like that and say, "Sure, I'll give you a dollar for the car". See what he says.

He thinks it's the new look but, we've already had Conestoga Wagon wheels over a hundred years ago.

    Intellectual, and Idiocracy ....

I think there must be point where you have enough money that Laws or common sense are no longer needed. Had a guy in Audi roll through a parking lot and into the access road without stopping or even looking. I hit the brakes and veered towards the oncoming lane. (no traffic). Fortunately, I was...

I keep a folder: "Craigslist Crackheads". I've printed a copy of that ad to keep. Maybe one day I'll scan them and start a thread here.

Got carried away with the RustOleum

About 35 years ago painting the inside of the block was the big rage. Over time, people had a lot of trouble with paint flaking off. Some claimed it helped oil return faster to the sump. As far as protecting the internal surfaces, my opinion is driving it regularly is the best. Painted a block...
