Start simple, Rotate the tires,....Seen goodyears cause this prob more than once,... 68gtxman may be onto somethin as well,...had prob with my Ram 1500,...had a lift kit in it when I bougt it,...could not keep a rear diff in it cause the angle was all jacked up...

They had to use one of these for my jeep 8 1/4,...been about 20 years since I've been in one...

Me thinks you need to back off on the carrier adjusters,...with the caps off, try and back off the adjusters by hand,...we used to have a tool in the dealership for this...Slide em in thru the axle tubes and back em off...

Remove your mother in law from the trunk,....But seriously folks,...What is your diff?,...Is It a 8 1/4?...Sounds like your gears aren't set right,...you should pull the cover and check your pinion depth, see if the wear on the ring vs. pinion is centered,....

But Mopar Hypoid Additive might,...It did with mine, better on slow speed turns too....New fluid won't fix broken,....depends on how worn it is,...I only got a dime, Got change???

AmsOil 85 140 synthethic,...don't forget the hypoid additive if its a limited slip,...Only cause this worked awesome when I had probs with the 8 1/4 in my Cherokee,...first one sploded at 12k,...135k on this one with no probs.

Yea, what he said,...I might add that if the trani must come out, take a good hard look at the bushing behind the seal,...unless the seal "just dried out", chances are the bushing may be worn,...same for the rear or driveshaft seal as well

Yea thats what I thought too,...I got one that me an my old boss built,....got all the go-fast parts, extra springs, valve body work, deep pan,yada,yada,....never installed. Took It to a swap meet, askin $250,...ya woulda thought It was made outa rubber dogshit,...1 or 2 bites,....guy next to me...

Worth more up here in new england, prolly cause the vehicles that had em are long gone. Seen em go for 600 bucks at swap meets up here.

Probably an 8 1/4,...8 3/4 diffs bolts are in the front,(toward the front of the car), no cover,.....3.55 is a common ratio for a 8 1/4,..this is whats in my jeep, and it is a limited slip (posi),...be careful mixin and matchin axle's,...do homework and measure,...I'm sure some of the other...

Had good luck with AmsOil 80/90, made the Jeep 5 speed shift smoother and quieter,....always used ATF when I did services at the stealership....

No doubt,...None of the boneyard trucks up here have diffs in them,..In any case a looksee inside the housing is difinitly in order

Just know that early gen Dakota rear Diffs are kinda weak, seems most of blew up,...Mine did,...If they got 3.23's in em, there time is limited,...If they got 3.55's in em they've been replaced,...apparently 3.23's are/were NS1 per Chrysler (at least for that application)
