Are all 5.9 Magnum flex plates the same? 904 install issues.

The 5.9's use a weighted flexplate, while the 5.2's use a nuetral balance flexplate. If you are running a stock bottom end, use the 5.9 flexplate with a nuetrally balanced torque converter. Be sure to check the for & aft converter freeplay so the torque converter doesn't bind or have too much...

Flexplate and TC for a BluePrint 408 Magnum

The 5.2 Magnum is neutral balanced, where the 5.9 Magnum is not. One of the torque converter bolt holes must be offset ground slightly to line up.

    Magnum Oil pan/gasket fitment issues

I just hammered the front notches down flat on my LA 360 Milodon oil pan and used the one piece Magnum gasket and a small squirt of Permatex Ultra Seal in all 4 corners of the pan and on the threads of each oil pan bolt on my 5.9 Magnum. It's remained leak free for several years now. The...

    5.9 swap in 71 dart

In that case just use the original ignition switch with both Start 1 & Start 2 connected. you wont need the push button start anymore. The reason they used Start 1 & Start 2 in the first place was to bypass the ballast resistor , which induces a voltage drop. Bypassing it with Start 2 gives a...

    5.9 swap in 71 dart

Are you using The Hot Wire Auto - Hotrod Harness or a factory harness from a doner vehicle? I had to connect Start 1 & Start 2 together to get continuous 12V from the key as the switch was turned to and released from the cranking position to the run position run or the car would do the same thing.

    Magnum Serpentine Pictures

Here's my '68's serpentine set-up. On a related but not yet mentioned note, many claim you have to run the van power steering bracket in our cars or the power steering pulley will hit the battery, that's just not entirely true. I used the more common power steering bracket, trimmed my battery...

Intank pump and need for return line

The pumps run continuously, and if used with a deadhead regulator they will heat up significantly, which can shorten the life span of the pump . Most manufacturers want a return style regulator to be used, so the fuel flowing through the fuel pump can cool the pump. I used a Fuelabs two speed...

360 magnum O2 sensor install help

1.) There are 3 wires that go to the O2 sensor, 12V switched power, ground and the 5V signal wire that you will need a pinout diagram for you harness to locate. 2.) No. Run the one O2 sensor to only one side of the motor. The 5V input signal it sends will be used for all cylinders. It needs to...

360 Magnum with stock EFI engine codes

Solo PCM's in Florida can sell you a PCM with the correct things disabled for a reasonable price. They are who I used, but I also had the ECM reflashed for more performance several times as I made upgrades from a stock motor to a stroked motor with ported Eddie heads and bigger cam. This...

What oil pan if using magnum timing cover?

I'm heading out of town for a few days, but I'll try and grab a shot in the morning.

What oil pan if using magnum timing cover?

The pan in this picture hold 6 quarts if memory serves, and it sits even with the bottom of the K-member. I did have to cut out a small V-shaped notch on the seam of the K-member to clear it.

What oil pan if using magnum timing cover?

Any LA 360 oil pan will work, but there is a catch. The LA pans have two notches on the bottom front of the pan where the timing cover meets the pan rail. You can hammer them out flat with a dolly and use the one piece Magnum gasket with a touch of sealer there and in the corners. Or, leave the...

    Help with stock EFI

I bought an ECM from Solo PCM's in Florida for a 2000 Dodge truck without security key and a manual trans, and bought a Hotrod wiring harness from Hotwire Auto. It only took 4 wires to hook up, and was plug and play. I used a surge tank fuel set-up and a stock tank. It performs flawlessly with...

    408 Magnum HP Guesses

No headers on that motor? Do you have any plans on seeing what it will put out on a chassis dyno? I found regular street radials to dangerous to drive on, and switched over to Nitto Drag radials. It helped a lot with traction issues. They work just as well in the rain as the BFG's too.

    408 Magnum HP Guesses

The 2004R has a 2.76 to 1 first gear ratio. That with the 3.91's, the 3800 rpm stall converter, and being able to nearly dead hook on the street when the tires are warm has put more than a few people right in shock.

Magnum Swap, which 02 sensor to use, pre-cat or post-cat

When I was first getting my EFI set-up running, the car would go into limp mode when it transitioned from open loop to closed loop after the first minute of running. It turned out that I had an open ground circuit on my O2 sensor. A quick bit of solder, wrap of tape and some heat shrink solved...

Magnum Swap, which 02 sensor to use, pre-cat or post-cat

Another insight I found is that routing the plug wires correctly eliminated an otherwise imperceptible misfire that showed up on a Matco Scanner I was able to borrow to sort my set-up out. Here's the link to the TSB from Chrysler. 5.2/5.9 Misfire TSB 18-48-98

Magnum Swap, which 02 sensor to use, pre-cat or post-cat

I went through this when I set up my factory EFI on my 1999 OBD2 system, and used the pre-cat sensor for the closed loop metering. I also hooked up an electronic cat simulator to feed an artificial post-cat signal to the computer to not have it throw a code and go into limp mode. However, I'm...

Picked up a Magnum 5.2 for a turbo swap

I'm not sure. Factory rod bolts worry me, and they are relatively inexpensive these days. However, if you spend the money on pistons and rods, why not just get the entire reciprocating assembly? You can buy a lot of Magnum short blocks for the price of building a strong stroker motor bottom...

    Magnum a/c to 72 dart with a/c

I used a Magnum compressor and sourced the rest of the underhood stuff from Nostalgic Air in Florida. The under dash stuff came from Vintage Air for their Gen IV unit and controls. The hose ends are readiliy available locally or from various vendors on-line.

Need wiring harness for EFI Magnum

Thank you. The overdrive is the single best thing I did to my A-Body, followed by EFI and BBP 4 wheel discs. I found the 2004R was easier to install because of the bolt on bellhousing and you don't have to cut the floor pan to get proper driveline to rear end pinion relationship. It also takes...

Need wiring harness for EFI Magnum

I built and ran mine in 3 stages and am planning a 4th version of the Magnum soon. All 4 will use the same ECM which was remote tuned by Chris at Performance Injection Equiptment. He knows his stuff, and is a great guy to work with. https://www.performanceinjectionequipment.com/ The throttle...

Need wiring harness for EFI Magnum

Get which ever one is cheaper, as you won't be using most of the connections. The Hotrod harness I bought from Hotwire Electric hooked up with 4 wires. The large cable from the alternator to the battery I made myself. The gauge wires are about the only thing you will use on the factory harness...

HP Tuners now supports JTEC PCMs

If you don't have the SCT handheld tuner you'll need one, which he can ship to you as part of a package that includes his custom tunes. Don't recall how much it was then now, but it was $500'ish for the package including tunes. It was worth every penny in my case.
