    High speed rated radials

I run Nitto Drag radials on the rear of both my Mopars. They are currently rated as a V (149mph) tire. They used to have a higher rating. On the front, I use V rated tires as well. Those are 225/60-15's there are quite a few V-rated 15 inch tires available out there besides the Avon tires...

Honest feedback on wheel/tire combo please

Looks good. 60. Most of the cars that I pull away from out of the hole have low profile sidewalls. They tend to spin sooner than a tall stretchy sidewall will under power, but can definitely help in the corners versus a tall stretchy sidewall especially when the car's suspension is enhanced...

15” limited choices: Cooper Cobra vs Mastercraft Avenger vs BFG Radial T/A vs ?

My main requirement on tires is to have a minimum of a V-rating for those times I feel the need......the need for speed. Although I rarely crack 130 mph anymore in my A-Body.

15” limited choices: Cooper Cobra vs Mastercraft Avenger vs BFG Radial T/A vs ?

I grabbed a pair of Nankang SP-9's with a 560AA UTOG, V-rated(149 mph). Walmart seems to have the lowest price on them. The rears never rub. It used to have a 1 inch lowering block, but I've since removed it. I'm running a pair of passenger side 3200 lbs SS springs, rear sway bar and Koni's...

15” limited choices: Cooper Cobra vs Mastercraft Avenger vs BFG Radial T/A vs ?

I just picked up a set of 225/60-15's for the front of my '68 Barracuda. They are V-rated with a 525 something treadwear rating. I'm having them put on and the car aligned on Friday. Cost was less that $200 delivered. Made in Taiwan, so from a modern factory. I run 265/60-15 Nitto's on the...

widest and tallest tires on a 68 barracuda

I bolted 275/60-15's on some 8" rims on my '68. They fit inside the fender well without rubbing.

Max tyre size different on ss springs?

I run that size Nitto Drag Radial on my '68 Barracuda convertible on an 8 inch rim. I forget the back spacing. The tires don't rub anywhere, are rated to 186mph and hook up very well on the street. They don't hook as well as a dedicated slick on a prepared track though. I do have 3200lbs SS...

15” limited choices: Cooper Cobra vs Mastercraft Avenger vs BFG Radial T/A vs ?

I always look for the tire with the highest speed rating, which is getting harder to find. I avoid anything other than a "V" rating.

    275/60-15 tire suggestions

For my needs, hot-street without freezing conditions; Nitto 555's are the only way to go. My cars are simply dangerous to drive without the Nitto's on them. Both will smoke a regular street tire and drift sideways on the freeway at speed. While that is fun, I'd rather hook up hard, and the...

    Maximizing BFG Radial T/A Traction

I run the 275/60-15's on my '68 Barracuda convertible with V-rated(149mph) General's 215/60-15's on the front. These are still available. This car currently has a bit of predictable over-steer that I'm comfortable with. The '70 'Cuda has the 325/50-15's out back with V-rated225/60-15's that are...

    Maximizing BFG Radial T/A Traction

Excellent write up on how to find the optimal tire pressures. I've been doing that for years with great success. I had Radial TA's on both my hotrods after I got them running, and they were down right dangerous on the street on high powered cars. It was like I was driving on snow covered roads...

    Street Tire Dilemma

I adjusted mine so they are just touching the bottom of the spring eye to try and minimize any shock on impact.

    Street Tire Dilemma

I actually got the universal set from Summit, as a quick search on Summit's site shows nothing available for Mopar other than Competition Engineering's Slide-a-link. I think they were about $60 delivered.

    Street Tire Dilemma

Slapper bars typically have to be modified to use on Mopar's effectively. That involves cutting half the rubber snubber off, and the positioning it directly under the front spring eye. I had to cut and weld them to get them properly adjusted. Once positioned correctly, They make a huge...

    Street Tire Dilemma

I run Nitto Drag Radials on both my Mopars 275/60-15 and 325/50-15's. The are the only thing that makes these cars safe to drive on the street. They don't like cold weather and last me over two years. The smaller tired car is a daily driver. They are Z-rated and work well in the rain. Only...

Opinion on thin wheel spacer on front wheel

They are very durable. No signs of wear at all. Here's the link for the exact part I used. Wilwood Hub Shields 300-11961

Opinion on thin wheel spacer on front wheel

Wilwood makes a steel spacer specifically for mounting on their disc brake hub. It's the only spacer I've found that is actually large enough in diameter to fully support the contact ridges on the factor style rims. They designed it to protect their aluminum hub flange. I had to enlarge the lug...

    Street/Strip Tire Recommendations Wanted

I run Nitto's on the rear of both my 10 & 11 second Mopars. They are not a great tire on a prepared drag strip, but they are awesome on the street once you get them warm by driving or on a warm day. They make both my cars safe to drive by delivering predictable traction on dry streets. They can...

Running Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials - love 'em!

I added a 1" lowering block, which I feel contributed to the wheel hop on the 2 passenger side 2800 lbs SS springs I'm running now. I added a pair of fitted slapper bars which eliminated the wheel hop and let the car hook up hard. Pinion snubbers and Caltracs ride way to harsh on the street for me.

    Nitto 325/50r15

Nitto 555R's are an awesome street tire. The work as good as any wide tire in the rain, hook-up very well once the are a bit warm either from ambient temperature or a bit of spinning, and have a 186mph speed rating. It's the only 15" tire out there with that high of a speed rating, and they last...

Running Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials - love 'em!

I love my Nitto Drag Radials too. I had to install a traction device with my SS springs to squash the wheel hop, but once installed they hooked way harder. I tried the Caltracs with split mono leafs, but they were noisy and made the car miserable to drive on the street, so I sold them...

    rear tires?

Nittos are the only way to go on a strong running street car. I run my 275/60-15's and 325/50-15's at 18 psi on both my cars. I came to that number by chalking the tire's tread from side-to-side on the tread and rolling down the street 40-50', until the chalk wore off evenly from one side to the...

Ok...how about *Shaved* BFG Radial T/As?

There are still great 15 inch tires out there. The 325-50/15 Nittos I have on the back of my '70 E-Body are Y - speed rated. (186 mph) and I'm picking up a set of V rated (149 mph) 245-60/15's for the front end on Monday. They have larger and smaller sizes in 15" for those too. The ride...

Ok...how about *Shaved* BFG Radial T/As?

On my '70 E-Body when I was running a 4 speed and 3.54's, the car would smoke the 275/60-15's BFG's and drift sideways on the freeway in 3rd gear when floored at 70 mph up through the redline at over 100 mph. They did hook in 4th at that speed though. They are that bad.

Ok...how about *Shaved* BFG Radial T/As?

They suck for traction new, shaved or bald and; are only rated to 115mph.

    Tire Balancing

I had the static balancing done on my '68 tires and wheels. They had the tape weights that you could not see on the steel rims. I am chasing a wheel speed vibration in my driveline right now, so I paid to have all the wheels rebalanced. This time I asked for them to use the rim lip weights...

    '67-'69 Barracuda rear tire size

275/60-15's on 8" rims on my '68 with an 8 3/4. No rubbing with plenty of room with light trimming of fender lip(removed about 1/2 of it along the top edge just in case).

    68 barracuda tire size

A pair of 149mph rated 215/60R-15's up front & a pair of 189 mph rated 275/60-15's on the rear. The car handles and hooks up very well with no rubbing at all.
