    AMD Installation Center quotes

one thing that might persuade AMD to work on your car (as a "hated" A-body) is if you tell them that you do have all the parts to do the project. one of the things that i noted when my car started to take more time was that they were waiting for some parts - ironically, one of the quarter...

    AMD Installation Center quotes

one thing i do want to say - i had a very hard time sending the blue car shell to AMD just to be cut up! that car came from Arizona and there was NO rust on it anywhere! just a little surface rust here and there. you almost could have hit that car with a little sandpaper, primed it and...

    AMD Installation Center quotes

yes, the $11k was for everything, parts, labor, taxes, etc. but remember, that was in late 2016 i believe. the total work was: AMD driver and passenger floor pan; AMD 4 sp trans floor hump; install two complete AMD quarter panels; remove floor pan from donor car from under front buckets clear...

    AMD Installation Center quotes

i don't know for sure, but i suspect AMD doesn't want to do A body restorations any longer. i shipped my 69 M-Code Cuda down to them in 2015 to install a complete underbody floor pan from the firewall back to the trunk along with two complete quarter panels. i also sent a complete body shell...

    '69 'Cuda Hood Scoops

thanks for posting the pic of your 69 hood with the A57 hood scoops made functional. i'm doing a ram air configuration on my 69 M-Code and you've given me some practical ideas.

    '69 'Cuda Hood Scoops

i also have a 69 M-Code Cuda that i'm currently working on. i have a set of OEM hood scoops and they are one piece solid cast pieces with no cut out. however, i am going to buy a set of repo hood scoops and cut them out and install a "ram air" system as i'm putting a 6 pack on the 440. the...

    My Acrylic Enamel Choices/Prices

a couple of years ago i restored and painted one of my barracuda's - a 68 fastback MM1 turbine bronze. i wanted it to have a "1968" look so i painted it with acrylic lacquer. the only place i could find lacquer paint was TCP Global auto body supplies in San Diego, California. they can only...

    1968 Barracuda wiper motor color

thank you for that clarification. it would make sense that the wiper motor in the picture i posted was the optional 3 speed motor as that car is equipped with AC, power steering and power brakes. my 68 has the motor i've pictured. i will have to get in it tomorrow and check the wipers for...

    1968 Barracuda wiper motor color

i literally have thousands of pictures of 67-69 Barracudas. when i run across an "unrestored original" i always create a file and save all the pictures of the car. here is one of "original" cars i have saved. it is a 68 340 formula S. you may notice the wiper motor is different from the 2...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

ironically, a few months after i got my 68 Turbine Bronze, 340 4 sp Formula S fastback Barracuda in 1970, i took a hair dryer and removed the OEM factory black horizontal rally stripes from the fenders, doors and rear quarters. mopar at that time had gone to a "wrap around the *** end" type...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

hi... it's hard to recommend to you which type of paint would be best for your project. here's a few guidelines i could offer: 1. "old school" acrylic enamels were the OEM paint for all chrysler products through about the late 1980's. GM used acrylic lacquer on their products through the...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

well... you've got me stumped on the mystery color of the noted 69 m-code barracuda. with the magic of more "power point presentation" software, here's a comparison of the two colors you've discussed beside the noted car. the problem with all this is that as anyone who has had a lot of...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

all the cars in the pics are 69 M-Code Cudas as i figured i could rely on the people who restored them to have used the original and correct paint colors. the below pic is a combination of the 69 "bahama yellow" Cuda and the 69 paint chart. i agree with you... i think that car is painted 999...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

i hope you guys don't get tired of me posting stuff but i've collected a pretty large library of reference materials for 67-69 Barracudas after spending a lot of time (and a fair amount of money) on tracking stuff down over the last 10 years. this stuff sits in the filing cabinet of my home...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

one last comment on old fashioned auto "lacquer paint"... i searched for several weeks before i found some. it seems with environmental laws and regulations, lacquer auto paint is VERY hard to find. however, i did find one vendor that still carries and will mix "any" factory paint code in...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

hey clementine... the really nice thing about lacquer paint is that it is VERY easy to spray. there are three basic thinners - low temp(cold, 40's-50's), mid-temp (55-65 degrees) and high temp (air temp above 70 degrees). as you might understand, the cold temp thinner drys the fastest so you...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

this is my 68 barracuda in original "turbine bronze." i restored this car myself and did the paint. the paint IS NOT as shinny or "deep" as most "newly restored" cars you see at shows because i painted this car with "48 year old technology" "one step" "acrylic laquer" - which is very close to...

    What Paint Would YOU Do?

clementine... i have 4 barracudas - 2 68's and 2 69's. the two 68's are factory colors - turbine bronze and silver - one 69 is the medium factory gold and the other 69 is a M-Code 440 cuda which is presently factory yellow, but may end up another color. i ran a body shop for 4 years and was...

How do i remove keyed lock from door 70 dart

hi Veeco... many older cars - pre-1960 - used philips screws to hold the door panels on to the doors along with the screws through the arm rests and chrome trim. sometime in the mid-1960's, manufacturers started using "plastic clips or buttons" to hold the door panels on. that is the way...

How do i remove keyed lock from door 70 dart

the door lock on your 70 dart should be the same as on 67-69 A-Body's. if so, the lock is held in place by a thin metal "C-clip" that slides between the door lock and the door. remove the window crank - should be an allen screw in the middle of the crank at the attachment shaft OR a "c-clip"...

69 hood with side 340 louvers? Scoop?

    Mini tubbing question

here's some pics of the tubs in my M-Code 69 Cuda when that car was converted from street to a drag car. i'm having all that removed and the car returned to OEM structure and design by American Metal Direct in Georgia. i don't know if any of this stuff will help you but here it is:

    68 a-body doors

i do not believe the 68 barracudas came with these as a stock item. it is possible that they were included in the "delux" interior option. every 68 cuda i've seen (and remember) just had black plastic screw on door lock knobs sticking up at the rear of the door.

    Couple of questions on sheetmetal/bodywork

i've been doing body work for about 50 years and i can't remember too many body panels that ever went on without some kind of "massaging" either with heat, body filler or a Big Hammer. forty years ago you could go down to your local plymouth dealer and order any OEM sheet metal you wanted...
