    4.250 340 Crank

BPE when you say 340 based build. What do you mean when it comes to a 340 block. Are you using a standard early style block or one of the reproduction blocks . If a standard 340 block what type of strengthening are you doing. What would you suggest as the bare minimum to strengthen. I ask as i...

    building 273..or not

Dibbons I remember your car and still see it around at sac. I also ran a tired but nasty 273. Hipo pistons stock heads, 340 TQ intake and carb, 4.30 gears, auto. I always think about doing it again.

Best available stock stroke race head

would it be worth it to go with econo heads that have a little work verses just porting my x heads.

Best available stock stroke race head

What head do most people like that is available for a stock stroke 340-360 race engine. I would like aluminum but doesnt have to be. Im running lots of compression about 13-1 and big solid cam. I already have a collection of w2 parts but I havent committed to them yet.

    48 degee W2 vs 59 degree W2

I have discovered they are 48 degree heads. Just not sure If I can, or should use these on my engine.

    48 degee W2 vs 59 degree W2

Yes i just dont want to get involved with heads and intake machined that fit only one engine.

    48 degee W2 vs 59 degree W2

Casting number is 3870810E. Intake surface is milled thin. Mopars west says there good heads. I am not sure if they are the 48 degree heads.

    48 degee W2 vs 59 degree W2

I would like to know if there is a quick way to identify older 48 degree W2 heads. I think I have a pair and I dont know if its worth the trouble to use them on my 410 stroker. Thanks

    Small block strokers. Your findings.

With these large strokers nobody is mentioning the heads they are going to run.

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

That was also one of my questions. How much can I rev this cam, Ive only reved to 6200 and it felt like it was still pulling. Im not used to engines that run much higher than 6000 rpm. Thanks Joe

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

The problem with the comp 305/525 was it was to radical. At the time I was trying to detune the car for more of a daily driver. I had the mopar cam and I new it would Idle better. I have a 410 stroker Im building, but I wanted to get to the track this summer and my Dart wont be ready for quite...

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

Yes I am pulling the SS springs and shocks from an old SS340 Dart I have and I will tighten the valve lash on the cam and see what happens on the next trip to the strip.

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

I probably should clear up a mistake here that I have made. My 107-108 mph was done at another track. Sacramento CA. Last night I ran at Infineon. The winds are terrible there and in previous cars I have lost 2 mph average at Infineon vs SAC. I may only be done 3mph now, I have to do something...

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

Yes as far as tuning its good. Engine will rpm in the 1/4mile to 6200 no problem. This engine is a 030 over 340. stock x heads stock 71 TQ setup,3500 stall, 4.56 gears. this setup was a consistant 12.5 car before with the comp cams 305 magnum cam. My 60 foots were only 1.8s But that was with...

  28. joes68340s

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

That maybe but I find it hard to believe. That I could lose that much mph. I have heard some people run this cam tighter on the lash.
  29. joes68340s

Swapped to 528 mech cam slowed down

I swapped to a 528 284 Mopar mech cam. I had a Comp 305 525 cam. Car went 107,108 mph with the comp cam. Now with the Mopar cam I am running 102 mph. I set lash at 28/32 like it called for. The valves sound very loose at this setting. I am at a loss for the loss of mph.
